RAAS Devigarh is an extraordinary property for smaller weddings (ours was ~80 people). POSITIVES: (1) The location isn’t bad (45 minutes from both the airport and city centre) and the property itself is breathtaking! The complex is large and dispersed enough to never feel crowded, but somehow still feels very intimate. The hotel also offers plenty of spaces to host both small gatherings and large ceremonies, each with a unique esthetic/view. (2) RAAS commands outstanding attention to detail, and the staff is very professional, friendly and accommodating. Everyone went above and beyond our requirements and expectations to make everything go smoothly. (3) The food and drinks are some of the best we and our families have had in India, and the service is absolute perfection! Chef Sanjeev took our F&B desires to heart, worked closely with us on a custom Indian-Italian fusion menu, and was very accommodating throughout the whole process. He even specially imported a mixer for one of our Italian cocktails! NEGATIVES: (1) The Rooms Division Manager is not the best point-of-contact; if you can, work directly with the GM. If you are stuck with the RDM, make sure to check all Excels thoroughly, confirm all requests via email, and go above his head if necessary (each of the Excels we received had significant errors that would have cost us thousands of dollars and he tried moving room bookings one week before our wedding even though they had been confirmed months prior!). (2) There’s only one room with proper, separate twin beds. 7 rooms allow for twin-sized mattresses to sit on the room’s original king-sized platform, with minimal space between the mattresses. TIPS: (1) If you can, host guests for three nights so they can enjoy everything that RAAS has to offer. We experienced significant flight delays (which is getting increasingly common) causing some of our guests to barely have time to change, let alone explore the property. (2) Avoid using the Garden Lawn for ceremonies. No matter how quiet the event planner/supplier says they’ll be, the setup will disrupt guests staying in the surrounding rooms. (3) Work with RAAS as much as you can - the service and execution you’ll get from the hotel exceeds anything you’ll get from local event planners.
