At every wedding I’d attended, the seven “vachans” chanted by panditjis often felt outdated and disconnected from today’s world. The vows rooted in a time when women were less independent, didn’t reflect modern values. So, for our wedding, we decided to break away from tradition and have a female pandit officiate. Finding one was not easy, given the male-to-female ratio in this field :3, but we were blessed to get to know our amazing Panditji, Acharya Shrutiji. Her ceremony was a breath of fresh air— she was smart, articulate, down-to-earth, and explained the meaning behind these rituals which no one really knew. The vachans we made to each other are relevant today and not just something we were asked to chant because that's how it has been done for years. Even in this 21st century where some The so called male pandits talk about snatching away these rights from women, whereas you have given a befitting reply to all of them with your ability.. We had the most seamless experience with Shruti ji. We both live outside India and so do our parents, but she made our experience very easy. From our initial conversation, she was clear, honest, attentive, and inclusive. As progressives, we wanted to retain the essence of the Vedic traditions but discard with the problematic and deeply patriarchial rituals that are out of date. This was a hard task given we were doing an inter-regional and inter-cultural wedding. Shruti ji helpfully navigated all the ritualistic jargon while talking to both sets of parents- one Maharashtrian and one Punjabi. She is great at explaining the meaning of each tradition and is an attentive listener. She is open to suggestions and flexible to client needs. On the day she received a lot of compliments from our guests due to her diction and narration which enthralled the audiences. The ceremony was comprehensive and included all the rituals and traditions and yet she managed to keep it short as that was our preference. Shrutiji has a great understanding of the rituals and remains a devout disciple of her art. Most importantly, she is a professional who values other people's time and was always punctual. She was at the venue ahead of time and started the ceremony on time as well as ending it like we had planned. The phera ceremony at our son's wedding was intimate and personal. It was special and emotional. Acharya Shrutiji explained the significance and essence of each ritual, involving everyone. It was just as the bride and groom wished. I have always seen guests shy away from witnessing the pheras, but here the serene vibes had everyone involved and emotional, blessing the couple. We were looking for 5 months for a lady priest for the wedding of our son. Finally we found Shrutiji. We used her for all our functions including Haldi, Nikasi and the Vedic Wedding. She was fabulous. She made our ceremonies special and meaningful. And her beautiful voice while reciting the Shlokas added a beautiful dimension to our ceremonies.

I wanted a well educated female priest for my wedding. This was really a dream for me as I always believed that women can do everything that men can. In a country, where women are often considered impure, it was really special to have my wedding solemnised by a female priest. She was very patient, understanding and welcoming. There are several bad practises that have become part of our wedding ceremonies (like Kanya Ka Daan, and parents not seeing their daughter's pheras). But shruti jee combined ancient wisdom with modern ideas. My family was also very happy with her. My mother still says that shruti jee really made our wedding the most special

My daughter Aarushi and son in law Sameer,both wanted their wedding ceremony to be performed by a female priest and initially the idea was not very welcomed by the family but when we first met Acharya Shruti ji to discuss about the wedding, we all felt confident and agreed that there could be no better person than her. And without her presence our special wouldn’t have been so special. Our whole family and the guests at the wedding also expressed how much they all enjoyed her presence and how beautifully the wedding ceremony was performed .Her expertise in Sanskrit Shlokas and the way she explained everything to the wedding couple while also keeping the guests involved throughout the ceremony was truly remarkable. The light hearted jokes cracked by her were appreciated by all and made the ceremony full of laughter and happy tears, just the way we all wanted it to be. Acharya Shruti ji is setting new trend in the Indian society by proving that females can achieve anything they desire and performing religious ceremonies is not about gender but what one learns about religion , spirituality and rituals.
