We love it when brides introduce us to stores that are hidden gems with great outfits and this wedding does just that. Disha claims to have been inspired by tons of different styles - hairstyles of Cersei from Game of Thrones , a stage backdrop inspired by Kim Kardashian's wedding and lots of beautiful, different outfits scoured through the bylanes of Mumbai!
Engagement and Pre-Wedding functions
The Wedding
From the bride: For the wedding, we wanted to give our guests a feel of entering into a French Courtyard, which was full of roses . So we chose to do the entire decor in white as that would create an elegant and calming feel to the place, along with the dining area done in soft peach and white with beautiful table centerpieces. Now speaking of the stage set up , we created an Indianized version of the Kim Kardashian rose-wall setup , as it’s the prettiest thing I have seen . I always thought roses were over rated , but thousands of them together , totally created the magic.
Coming to my personal style , every look was styled by me with a certain thought behind each one of them. For the engagement which was the first function , I wanted something simple and I chose to wear a simple white and gold lehenga ,with a green dupatta to pep up the look and add some color.
For the ceremonials rituals , I chose to wear a heavy pink anarkali , as I wanted a change from the usual lehengas . It’s usually a thing with the Gujaratis , that brides either have to be in lehengas or saris , cause every other person can be wearing an anarkali , however I always thought an anarkali with amazing heavily embroidered “peetha” could look so amazing despite it’s a simple concept. Hence I custom-made that anarkali which had clear design patters, and neat work.
Pre wedding dinner again I chose to wear a gold and cream lehenga with a fixed dupatta draping , something like a fusion of lehenga and sari, that outfit was relatively simpler as it didn’t have a heavy embroidery, however the lehenga had a fancy cut and chose to stand out for a dinner party the day before the wedding. Yet again I decided to pair that with a choker and studs to make it look classy yet chic. With the hair and make up , I always wanted some texture in the basic half-pinned hair do , hence I decided to have those twisted hair look on one side of the parting...A little inspired by the Game of thrones hairstyles , mainly by the character of Cersie.
Finally , the wedding , I was so determined that I definitely want to get married in a full red attire. This outfit , completely stole my heart and was a total winner for me . Originally, the dupatta of this outfit was beige ; however too many brides in the past had worn the red with beige combination, hence I chose to confidently go full red. I feel like when brides wear the entire outfit in one single color, it creates an illusion of increased height which makes you look leaner and tall.I had this look in mind ever since I knew I was committed and was going to be married soon, even though the dates weren’t decided. I wanted an absolute clean face, which only highlighted my own features, I have really big effective eyes , so I decided to add drama to the eyes with a winged liner and red pouty lips. That was it for make up . It just put together my dream look for me .
