Where Should You Get Married This Year? 5 New Venues To Tie The Knot in 2016!

BY The WMG Bride | 16 Feb, 2016 | 2040 views | 4 min read

We all want the "perfect setting" and that means location that is grand, beautiful,...yada yada. Before you go out on a limb and book the next predictable destination, I'd like you to take a breather and look at the newest, grandest options in town. Say goodbye to old ideas and done-to-death locales - the new destinations are here to make your wedding a perfect one. So after an intense search, here's what we found:

Try Silvassa Instead of Alibaug

ras resorts

For those near Mumbai looking for budget-friendly options, Alibaug with its neat beaches and its proximity has been an all-time favourite. Come 2016, all that has changed and now, sweet little Silvassa is on its way to becoming the next big thing. Now that it has become a "Smart City" under PM Narendra Modi's Smart Cities Mission, expect it to grow exponentially since smart cities get great budgets to develop. The versatile union territory has a few beautiful spaces for guests to spend time at - Van Ganga Lake, Jagannath Temple, Om Temple, Madhuban Dam and many other interesting spots for major pre-wedding shoots. Favourite Resorts: Treat Resort is a premium hotel that hosts quite a few neat weddings in the area. Our personal favourite though is the very simple but interesting Ras Resorts.
Try Pondicherry Instead of Goa  28733978

Beaches are the best places to get married - really. Add Portuguese, Dutch and French influences, and you have a classy cocktail of sorts. The quaint town has everything weddings need - old churches, a nice promenade and an Ashram (for sight-seeing) and more. They also have breath-taking sunsets and beautiful skies but surely, the touristy crowds you find in Goa are missing, isn't that great? And the good thing is that Pondicherry is perfect for two days - a bit of eating out and a little sight-seeing, not too much, not too little. That means that  your guests would have their fill of everything in a short span of time and remember your wedding by. Favourite Resorts: Do take a look at the uber-luxe Bonjour Bonheur Ocean Spray Hotel, a beautiful property with exciting views. Do check out the simple but idealistic Le Pondy Hotel for a great time.

Try Corbett / Ranthambore Instead of Udaipur

Wildlife Sanctuaries are totally taking up weddings this year. These off-beat locations really work for the bridal party because of the eco-tourism and the wildlife preservation. Let's just say that the beautiful landscape also adds up to all the drama - so swoop in on this one before you get into the predictability of Udaipur and its constricted and OTT palaces. Ranthambore is also another unique destination these days - the weather is manageable and the thrill of a safari, awesome at its very core. Favourite Resorts: There are many sweet eco-resorts in Corbett - we personally love Namah and Samsara. Ranthambore, on the other hand, has its hands full with Sujan Luxury Tents and Oberoi Vanyavilas Hotel.

Try Hyderabad Instead of Jaipur

Okay, so in India, we love our royalty and heritage and all things kingly, so that doesn't mean you do only Rajasthan. While we completely love Jaipur and Udaipur, we are totally bored with the same venues. So enter Hyderabad - it's not a new city, neither is it unique but yes, it is Nawabi and Nizami heritage to boot and that makes it completely awesome. Salman's sister, Arpita got married at the Falaknama Palace and apparently, it's a delightful place. Ah, the horse carriage and the beauty of Hyderabad in the night and the yummy khana makes it all worth it! Favourite Resorts: Taj Falaknama of course. But we are also enamoured by Taj Banjara and ITC Kakatiya.

Try Andamans Instead of Kerala

Andamans are the new black these days. With new islands opening up and Port Blair as the hotspot for new and exciting hotels - Andamans are really the new-age destination this year. Try the Havelock Islands, take your guests to see sunsets on boats, or add diving lessons - maybe you'll be adventurous for an underwater wedding - who knows. The deal is that the food and beaches are glorious and that's why Andamans is the destination you must try this year. Favourite Resorts: Coral Reef Havelock is one helluva party nad the sundowners there are pretty popular. Silver Sand also is in Havelock and is totally rustic and charming. Watch out for our next session on International destinations for 2016 weddings! Coming soon.
