Two Potterheads' Bengali-Bihari Wedding in Goa With A Ton Of Customised Details

They say, when you know, you know. Or in some cases, fate brings you together after you didn't realise it before! Sanjita and Vivek knew each other in college, but reconnected via a matrimonial website- now how serendipitous is that? They had their Bengali-Bihari wedding in beautiful Goa, and since both the bride and the groom are Potterheads, included a whole lot of details and customisations to honour that! We met once on the ISB campus since he was one batch senior to me for our MBA but we actually reconnected years later on Jeevansaathi.

From The Bride:

Our wedding took place on November 27, 2023. Our wedding was my personal dream come true, it was a big fat destination wedding in Goa with friends and family coming from all over the world. We had over 200 guests, I left my job to plan every detail from the welcome letter design to the colour scheme, I worked closely with my planners. We are both Potterheads so I incorporated that as much as possible from our hashtag to our welcome letter design to our props at our sangeet. I wanted to incorporate Vivek's likes as well so Sangeet was based on his favourite colour - blue, wedding on mine - Red, I even created a detailed document for merging rituals since he is Bihari and I am a Bengali, we tried to respect both sides of our family as much as possible.

Jumping Souls were great, they executed my very specific vision and even managed to make my introverted husband open up and talk and take photos with me. All the photos turned out great.

Azaya Goa: This was the venue for the Haldi & Wedding. It was like a Morroccan dream with blue tiles and the blue sea, had amazing food and a stunning resort.

ITC Fortune for the Sangeet – It was a wonderfully executed sangeet with special effects entrance, multiple dances and a live band not to mention great food. 

Makeup Artist: Krystal George

She comes from Bollywood so she was very professional, helped keep me calm and let me do what I want whether it was bringing friends cousins in or photographers. My vision for minimal makeup but yet glamourous was perfectly done. We infact used her for my sister in law's wedding as well 2 months later.

Wedding Planning: Sunset Getaways

They were brilliant, we had numerous meetings, my father had multiple questions on budget, I had multiple decks and very specific aesthetic themes in mind and they pulled it off exactly how I wanted it.

Bridal Outfits:

My bridal outfit was from my favourite designer Sabyasachi, it was a dream come true to wear a red benarasi by him but the real show stopper was the beautiful veil, sangeet lehenga was from Onaya, while very heavy, it made me feel like a princess. Haldi was from Friendship, I have shopped there for years and they had the eprfect blend of fun, light and floral.

Groomwear: Was from Wagad in New Bombay, Vivek stays in Jakarta so he only had a week to shop and yet they managed to get great outfits for him

Bridal Mehendi: Misba Mehendi Artist

She was wonderful, I have 2 tattoos on my hand and she incorporated that very well seamlessly into the final design.

Bridal Jewellery:

Main set was from Dhedia jewellers, a jadau kundan lovers dream come true, gold was from BC Sen and S Zaveri - both long term jewellers for my family
