BY Apoorva | 22 May, 2024 | 2124 views | 5 min read

When it comes to styling your bridal looks, nobody does it better than a stylist! And when the stylist is you, you have to nail it perfectly. That’s what Tanya did five years ago when she had one of the most elegant weddings, we have seen on WMG. And now she did it again at her brother’s wedding, where she re-wore her wedding haute couture outfits and styled them differently! She does it right every time and we love how she is doing it sustainably. Keep reading to know how!

Meet Tanya

Being a bridal stylist and Founder of CLAD, I had decided that the outfits I would wear for my brother's wedding would be repeated from my own wedding This was super special to me as it was a joyous occasion in the family and I wanted to show how couture and sustainability can be done right!

My brother's wedding was honestly the perfect opportunity to wear some of my own couture outfits from my wedding five years ago. Being a bridal stylist at CLAD, reusing and re-styling your bridal outfits in different ways has always been so exciting and satisfying to do. Of course, everyone loves buying new outfits (as do I) but this time it was truly an eye-opener for me to see how my own wedding outfits turned out to be so timeless and extremely wearable years later and how easily I was able to style them a bit differently from my wedding too.

Look 1: Sangeet

Tanya's own bridal look

I wore a custom couture Gaurav Gupta★ 4.7 ivory x blush pink waterfall Lehenga that he had designed for my own sangeet and five years later it looked as good as new without a single embellishment out of place - this is when you know it’s “couture” - timeless and sustainable! I did switch up the blouse and got a new one made from his new Paris couture show to make it look a bit more fun and styled it with minimal diamond jewellery from Begani Jewels★ 5

Hair and Makeup: My makeup was done by Riddhima Sharma and Hair by @kunjsharma_hair. I’m not one to wear too much makeup and that’s very much Ridhima’s aesthetic as well making her my go-to person when it comes to makeup -  she opted to go for a soft glam look and Kunj did the textured waves so perfectly + took the best photos might I add!

Look 2: Pre Wedding Event

I’m the biggest Anamika Khanna★ 4.8 fan and I’ve lost count on the number of times I’ve repeated this cape outfit since my wedding. It’s a gorgeous red sharara with colourful tribal and gota embroidery. I love it even more now than I did when I bought it years ago. For jewellery I just wore red uncut diamond earrings by Raj Mahtani★ 5

Look 2: Mehendi

I wore a stunning two-piece set from Anita Dongre★ 4.9 new rewild collection. I found this outfit while I was shopping for one of my bridal clients and again, I instantly loved it. The gold zardozi work on this hot pink x black silhouette made it so unique and perfect for a sundowner mehendi that was themed bold & bright. For the jewellery - I wore a pearl choker with long earrings by Roopa Vohra.

Hair and Makeup - My mehendi makeup was done by me. Hair was done by Sunita!

Look 3: Wedding

Tanya's Own Bridal Look

For my brother's wedding ceremony, I chose to wear my Tarun Tahiliani★ 4.4 Chikankari Anarkali that I wore at my Anand Karaj ceremony 5 years ago. I’ve always been a huge fan of TT’s classic and ethereal silhouettes - but it’s the quality and longevity of his pieces that always amaze me. For jewellery, I chose to wear my gorgeous Raj Mahtani★ 5 set with rubies and uncut diamond x polkis that I had worn for my wedding pheras. Choosing to wear completely different jewellery with the outfit and draping the dupatta differently, gave the outfit a whole new vibe.

Hair and Makeup: It was done by @vishakhadjain - Because it was a day event I definitely didn’t want the makeup to look too heavy. She was so good at nailing the brief of fresh and dewy makeup with a simple bun + gajra.

Look 4: Reception

For his reception, I wore an easy breezy Tarun Tahiliani★ 4.4 draped corseted black dress. The minute I saw this outfit on one of his shows I was instantly drawn to it. I think my approach to buying Indian outfits has shifted slightly and I definitely lean towards outfits that are light and easy to wear multiple times. I also liked the fact it was Indo western and depending on how I chose to style it could look more Indian or more Western. Since it was his reception, I chose to style it with traditional Indian jewellery by Roopa Vohra - she recommended to layer it a few different pieces and add colour and I’m so glad I went ahead with her vision.

Hair and Makeup: My makeup was done by Makeover by Indu★ 5 - Honestly to this day I’m so amazed at how brilliantly she prepped my skin and the technique with which she applied my makeup. One of the most talented makeup artists I’ve worked with that I randomly found on Instagram. My hair was done beautifully by @prince_hairdo

So which one was your favourite look?
