It all may sound very filmy, but looks like when two people want to be together, nothing can really stop them. Here is another intimate lockdown wedding which took place, and the best part is, this was literally put together by all the family members- bridal outfits and all! The bride's outfits were not ready, so she ended up wearing her mom's vintage suit, and we have the bride's sister, Simran who tells us how they managed everything last minute, while keeping all the precautions in check!
The OG Wedding Plans
Tiffany and Angad met in the most cliched arranged marriage setting. But like they say, when you know, you just know - just after the first meeting, it was a yes from Angad, and it didn’t take too long for Tiffany either to take the plunge and say yes. Before any of us knew it, it looked everything, and more that love looks like, and after the Roka in December 2019, the date was set for 12th April 2020.
The Change In Plans
It was the first wedding in the family after years and so when the big fat Indian wedding, that the family had been planning for months took the most unexpected turn just as the first curfew was announced, none of us had any idea how difficult things were going to get. It was also that same day that the pre wedding rituals were meant to begin, with a satsang. Little did we know, after pushing the wedding date for almost a month, the wedding will go from 350 people to just 50 people. Plans were changed, outfits weren’t ready, family had to cancel their plans to come to Delhi for the wedding, and it was basically everything you wouldn’t expect during a wedding.
The Quarantine Wedding
Things sometimes just don’t go as planned and so the next best thing was to make the most out of what we all had.
From 5 functions, it all came down to a small mehendi function at home and a simple Anand Karaj at the nearby gurudwara. But weddings are always special, no matter what, and I’m sure this one will definitely be worth a story to tell people for the next few years.
Some of the challenges we faced :
- The bride’s mehendi outfit wasn’t ready, but her mom has her own boutique and so her outfit was made taking 3 different pieces from 3 different outfits that had been bought for her trousseau, and the designer mom had her outfit ready in record time. Looking back, I don’t think any outfit could have been more suited for a Mehendi.
- The bride’s wedding outfit was still at the store and never reached back to her, and so the hunt began for this as well. Her mom used her own 27 years’ old wedding outfit and made a suit for her and an outfit for the bride’s sister, from another one of her own pre wedding outfits. It definitely wasn’t what she had been imagining herself in all these months, but she sure looked like a dream on the day.
- The photographer refused to send his team out for a shoot during this period, and us sisters turned into photographers for the mehendi night for our bride to be, and somehow found someone who lived close by and did photographer, for the wedding day.
- There were no mehendi artists available and nor were a lot of makeup artists keen on coming to someone’s house for makeup during this time. Luckily enough, she knew someone who lived in the same neighbourhood who’s a great makeup artist, and she puts stunning mehendi too.
It was all that we’d never imagined, and still turned out to be a wedding as beautiful as we had ever imagined it to be. Like their wedding hashtag, it was all #TAngled, but a beautiful memory that’s going to stay with us all forever.
