Of course, we obsess over brides who pick unique outfits & silhouettes to wear to their wedding shenanigans! However, we have a soft corner for those who put their grannies’ & mommies’ bridal trunks to use, exactly how this bride did! Meet Sargam, our stunning bride who gave her mommy’s bridal lehenga a voguish spin, and wore it on her pre-wedding shoot with such panache.
Keeping her look all glam yet minimal, she fashioned the rani-pink lehenga with a dainty maang tikka and a pair of gold kangans. A natural-looking makeup and centre-parted hair further topped-off her look, and added to her beauty. Also, not to miss out on how she carried her dupatta like a cape, making for a pure royalty!
On being asked about why did she decide to wear her mother's wedding lehenga, Sargam shared,
I had always dreamed of wearing my mother’s wedding lehenga one day. Owing to a few customs in my family to be, I couldn’t have donned my mother’s wedding outfit for my big day, so I decided to incorporate this gorgeous ensemble for my pre-wedding. The day I mentioned this idea to her, I remember clearly, the look on her face and that wide smile, was PRICELESS.. This wasn’t just an emotional moment for the both of us, but also makes her a key player in my wedding.
Further talking about the modifications & alterations she did to the lehenga, she revealed,
Most of the original lehenga was untouched, however, only the choli/ blouse was re-done. Also, since the ensemble ages 28 years old, the dupatta needed a touch-up too. We had to lift all the embroideries and place them on a new fabric, keeping intact all the embroidery.
Well, we are quite impressed with her decision as well as her vintage choice! It was so wise on her part to not splurge on another designer lehenga, which apparently she would have never worn again. Also, we must say her mommy has got the best daughter in this world! Don’t you agree?
