Drishti and Shaleen's love story is straight out of a modern fairy tale. Both hailing from Mumbai, India, fate threw them together in a Toronto high school, where Drishti, the top student, and Shaleen, last bencher, navigated their way through math, Shakespeare, and business jargon like the 4 Ps. Despite Drishti's vow to ‘never date a Gujarati’—even though she’s half Gujarati herself—Shaleen wasn’t about to let that stop him. With relentless charm and a lot of persistence, he managed to break free from the friend zone. By 2017, their friendship blossomed into romance, and they've been inseparable ever since!

Drishti and Shaleen had always dreamed of visiting Portugal, but Drishti had planned this trip with her long-distance best friend. Despite her repeated efforts to persuade Shaleen to join her, he always had a reason not to go.

The day Drishti was flying to Porto, she texted Shaleen, wishing he were there with her. Shaleen’s response was a casual "sure"... boys, right? Drishti arrived in the enchanting city of Porto and began exploring its charming streets and hills, savoring every moment. Meanwhile, her best friend was frequently texting someone and became oddly defensive whenever Drishti inquired about it—definitely suspicious. Once Drishti had adjusted to the time difference, her friend revealed the next day's itinerary: a visit to Jardim do Morro in Gaia, touted as the best spot before the weather heated up and known for its breathtaking views. Drishti grumbled about the early hour and her reluctance to visit a park, but Shaleen had urged her to keep an open mind and try new experiences.

On August 2nd, Drishti was abruptly woken at 8:30 am by her best friend, who insisted she get ready despite her protests of "I’m on vacation, stop." Reluctantly, Drishti prepared and left the hotel, barely having time to send a good morning text to Shaleen due to the rush. The garden they visited seemed ordinary at first, but her best friend expertly guided them through the lush landscape, past peacocks and ducks. As they reached a picturesque spot overlooking the Douro River, Drishti rounded a corner and was stunned to see Shaleen standing there with a velvet green box. Inside was a sparkling diamond ring—exactly what she had always wanted. Her man, in the perfect place, with the ring of her dreams. Now, didn't this leave you teary-eyed?
