So you think only we have been aping stuff from weddings abroad? No way! They also love some of our Indian traditions so much, that they are going bat-sh*t crazy about 'em! BTW, having an 'Indian Wedding' or 'Hindu Wedding' as a theme wedding is also a wedding trend abroad, with lots of foreigners who have no desi connection whatsoever choosing to come down to India- Rajasthan or Kerala to tie their knot Indian style! So very quickly, here are 5 Indian wedding traditions which are gaining a lot of popularity abroad!
Banana Leaves
Yep, that very thing which we were once made fun of has now become a trend! Using banana leaves in decor or eating on them has become a trend abroad, and they are literally losing their mind over how cool it is! While they literally might not be eating off them, using them as place mats or napkin rings for a botanical theme wedding or even wrapping giveaways in them is really catching up! Plus, banana leaves make for a very cute print for decor and invites as well!
Henna Tattoos
It's no secret that foreigners have been in love with henna (remember Madonna in Frozen?), and this love has found itself with a new trend- henna tattoos! Yep, BFFs or bridesmaids are marking themselves with henna tattoos as a theme, which makes for a super fun idea! White henna has also seriously caught on abroad well!
Holi Theme
The festival of Holi is something that really excites people abroad, and since Holi parties have not only caught up big time here as a wedding function, but overseas as well! So much fun and so so colourful! Called a colour or a paint fight, it's a popular theme for pre wedding shoots and beach weddings!Fireworks and Sparklers
We know, they have it a a tradition for the 4th of July. But fireworks at weddings is something that's not so common and could be inspired by Indian weddings for all you know! With elaborate fireworks displays to guests holding sparklers, it's become pretty popular!

Yup, Bollywood is where the original 'dancing around trees' routine started, and choreographed romantic and group dances on Bollywood tracks have also found their way to weddings abroad! Just check out how cute the video above is- complete foreigners dancing to a Punjabi track on their wedding!Lehengas as Co-Ords
More and more western brides are choosing lehengas from India but making them work for their style. We did a double take when we saw this girl rock a co-ord lehenga in cotton from Mogra Designs. And what's more interesting is that it looks like a gorgeous dress! Like really! Who knew, right?
