Attending your BFF's wedding and want to look like a million bucks without breaking the bank ? While the bride stays within the safe zone ( not all WMG brides do, but....), it's the BFF who really goes all out to experiment and try her hand at newer styles. Plus, she does that without outshining the bride - now that's an added bonus. So when blogger Garvita Garg's pictures landed in our inboxes we are more than happy that they gave us a peek into her personal style - from anarkalis to passas to palazzos - this is her detailed account of what she wore at her BFF's wedding in her own words. P.S Garvita did her own makeup and hair - gorg, innit?
What I Wore: Engagement
For the engagement, I chose a contemporary outfit. It's a beautiful Marsala hue floor-length anarkali, with intricate
gota patti work waist up. It also has a keyhole back. The high neck detailing makes it stand out from the regular clichéd anarkali patterns. It might look red in one of the pictures, but really it's marsala.
Price: Rs. 8,000
Shopped from: Shabad, Rajouri Garden
What we loved about it: The high-neck and the vibrant hue. Plus, we loved how Garvita styled her beautifully with winged liner.
What I Wore: Mehendi
For the mehendi, I wore a vibrant high-low kurta. I wanted to wear something that was not just easy to dance and move around in but also glamorous. It had beautiful thread and mirror work, well, the yellow colour perfectly suited the theme. I paired it with these customised floral palazzos and a pair of chunky Passa earrings.
Price (Kurta): Rs. 2,200
Shopped From: Global Desi
What we loved about it: The way Garvita added a more modern element with John-Lennon-ish sunnies and a side braid.
What I Wore: Cocktail
I wore a side slit evening gown for the cocktail. Styled it using metallic Gold tones with the belt and matching footwear. Finally, added these pearl earrings for the effortless evening elegance!
Price: Rs. 7,400
Shopped From: Forever New
What we loved about it: The Indian touch she added to the western outfit with pearl Jhumka hanging earrings. Plus, we loved the red lips...on fleek!
What I Wore: The Wedding
For the wedding, I chose this combination of red, blue and gold. The whole outfit was customized, so right from picking up the fabrics to pasting Swarovski beads on the dupatta to shortlisting the blouse design was done by me. I chose this maang tikka for its modern twist. Since it was a statement piece, I kept the rest of the jewellery quite muted.
Price (Maang Tikka): Rs. 4,200
Shopped From: Aetee Designs
What we loved about it:The innovative backless blouse - so chic. The simplicity of the colour combos and the subtlety of her look!
