Girls, get ready to drool because Manish Malhotra's Spring/Summer 2016 Haute Couture collection at Mehboob Studio in Mumbai is so gorge! And we already know how much he likes to stay on the subtle side so we think that ‘ELEMENTS’ as a collection is a bit different from his usual fare - it was dreamy and romantic but also, couture in every way. It really does mark a new direction for the label and the couture collection showcased over 70 ensembles for a beautiful summer wedding inspired by Nature’s four glories– Earth, Water, Wind and Flame. They were glamorous and effortless - a twist on traditional silhouettes and shapes. We'll say perfect for the BFF of the bride or a bride for her sangeet.
There were other unconventional drapes and ideas too - tailored ponchos and overlapped trousers; cocktail dresses with graceful sari drapes; off-shoulder jumpsuits with Victorian elements perfect for day mehendis. and breezy open-air sangeets. The materials used were organza, tussar and crepe in baby pink, powder blue, mint green and sunset orange, smart choices in colour for the smart bride. Not to forget, there were floral motifs too on display paired beautifully with Manish’s handpicked uncuts, rubies, emerald & diamond accessories from Anmol Jewellers. Plus, the super cute accessories sealed the deal for us - those yummy handcrafted belts & beaded fringe bags. Ask Manish and he says that he wants the bride to have fun with these - I think the fun bit is all about keeping it fresh for the snap-chatting Insta-friendly bride - easy breezy! Here are our favourites from this collection!
The collection also had a mini collection showcased for the groom - kurtas and bandhgalas that come with immaculate tailoring with blue and ivory being the primary colour palette.
The show also had the stunning Jacqueline Fernandez in a pastel pink gown and sheer cape and the dapper Arjun Kapoor in a midnight blue kurta and pants, we likey!
