Sweet & Whimsical Delhi Wedding With Pheras Under A Tree

BY Latha Sunadh | 01 Aug, 2018 | 4002 views | 4 min read

It's always common to take a look at the wedding for the bride, but this one's special because it's got both the bride and groom looking their best in quirky and unconventional silhouettes. From the fun Mehendi outfit to the pleated pink kurta on Bhisham to the asymmetrical pant-suit at the Sangeet to the blue colourful mehendi lehenga - everything is so unusual. Take a look at some cool ideas too: the fun mogra backdrop at the Mehendi to the jewelled mehendi on the bride at the Sangeet - so much awesome. The venue, Karma LakeLands was a riot and the couple got married under a tree that the bride's dad planted. The bride also sang a song for the groom - that's such a wonderful idea! Photography by WeddingNama★ 5  was just a delight!

Meet Aashna & Bhisham

"Bhisham came that day from New York for his friend's wedding and had come over to my house to assist with her pre-wedding shoot. That's when I met him for the first time, it was love at first sight. Post that it was a little bit of stalking to make this happen ;p" says Aashna.

From The Bride:

Panodrama Events, our planners, worked like an extended family, we couldn't have wished for better. Aliya Lamba did a great job.We did not want the run of the mill invites, we wanted to do something that not commonly done. Aliya helped us to get the detailing down to the tee.

Prana, were the performers for our Mehendi, everyone highly appreciated their music. Plus they were great support in helping in recording a music video to surprise my husband and it was a dream to sing it live on the day too. Here's the video.

Gautam Vedi pinned out-of-the-box decor ideas for our wedding, spot-on. We wanted a 7ft unicorn and a stage over our pool and wanted our wedding under a tree planned by my dad with minimal structural stuff. He did a fantastic job.

Photography was one thing we were obsessed with and we starting researching options way before we started planning the wedding. We loved Wedding Nama and their work and are so glad we picked them from all the available options. They captured the event beautifully and am so glad they delivered!

Karma Lakelands was a winner. It was clear that I always wanted my wedding venue to have sprawling greens but also something unusual, something that would give enough options to play around with and surprise our guests. My dreams came true at Karma Lakelands...I couldn’t have asked for anything better than a mandap under a tree in the middle of the golf course, a tree which incidentally my father had planted.

Our wedding was packed with surprises because of which none of us ever knew any plan accurately. Despite that, crazy amounts of planning and execution went into each event - from a surprise flash mob arranged by Bhisham that included house help, something that touched my heart beyond words, to realising a music video where I sang Bhisham's favourite song, to our love story being embroidered on our outfits - it was a rollercoaster ride I didn't want to get off.

Bhisham was carried on a charpie for the opening of the Sangeet and on a very unusual song for the groom - Khali bali from Padmavat, while on the wedding day instead of walking the aisle on a song I walked down to my vows. We tied the knot under a cherry-picked tree; making my dad really happy since he's an environmentalist and he planted that tree several years ago . There was no better way to start my new life. Since Bhisham proposed to me on a song by Kailash Kher in Phillipines, we had him perform at the wedding reception right after our Pheras.

From flash mobs, to pre-recorded vows, to Kailash Kher’s performance on the song that got us together - it was nothing short of soulful and heavenly. I had always imagined a fairy-tale wedding under a tree, not to be like one of the stereotypical princesses but be my own queen.
