Yesterday was couturier Suneet Verma's show at India Bridal Fashion Week 2014. Given that the Falguni & Shane show began 2 hours late at 9.30 (it was slotted to start at 7.30..ugh SO annoying and its just disrespectful to everyone's time), the fact that we were able to enter the show area at 10.15 for Suneets 9.30 pm show was actually a big relief !! As the audience trickled in, the arena began to fill up with a bevy of A-list designers lending support in the front row (Spotted Rohit bal, JJ Valaya and Jyotsna Tiwari watching the show intently). What followed was Indian wear with some oriental influences - it began with the set resembling an Ancient, two storeyed Indian temple with an oriental touch . Apart from one gentleman in the crowd who insisted on standing up, hooting and yelling things like "Rohit come to the floooor" much to a bemused Rohit Bal, the show went on smoothly. It started with some anarkalis and lehengas with mirror work detailing, moving on to graphic striped fabrics used in blouses as a contrast against soft, chantilly lace sarees and finally on to signature bridal lehengas in candy colors- pinks, yellow, corals.
Wed Me Good Loves:
The headgear most of all- those gold spikes with attachments coming on the side were so chic ! Apart from that, a few exquisite pieces done in all lace, some innovative tassle detailing on sari blouses as well as some brightly coloured lehengas . Tons of pieces that would be gorgeous, timeless additions to a brides trousseau but at some level given the Suneet Verma fans we are, we were just a tad bit disappointed because the lehengas felt a bit dated- like we have seen all of this before. Don't get us wrong- these were all beautiful pieces, and commercially this collection is going to do phenomenally well based on the wearability factor but in terms of the bridal lehengas showcased- while they were all pretty, nothing made us stop dead in our tracks.
All our favourite pieces have the heart sign on them:
The jacket with zardozi and sequin detailing in a midnight blue was lovely against the sari
The sheer neckline and the ombre detailing of the anarkali was gorgeous.
Is that a saree with a jacket or a sharara? Love it either ways
More prettiness- specially liked the contrast of the striped pallazos
Lace Bridal lehenga with Silver detailing
Pretty yellow and pink lehenga
Neon Lehenga with Gota detailing
This sari blouse with tassle detailing was so fun

Oh did we mention the sizzling Kangana was the show stopper? We barely recognised her from our angle
