Summer is just around the corner, and if it's a summer wedding that you're having, we are sure you're already knee deep into the whole planning process. Summer weddings need to be light and refreshing, especially if it is a destination one, and we are gonna help make sure yours is just perfect! While we do keep updating you on the decor and outfit trends, we thought this is the perfect time to give you a complete guide on the perfect lehengas for the summer bride- for every function and occasion!
Fabrics

Now this one is super important. Since its summer, you want to keep it flowy, light and breezy! Prefer lightweight fabrics like chiffon, georgettes, crepe, organza and net which are great for the smaller functions. As far as the bridal lehenga is concerned, you can pick a Benarasi one which might look heavy, but since the work is in the fabric, can be much lighter than any other fabric! Steer clear of heavy fabrics like velvets and even raw silk which can look too stiff for summers. These days ikat print lehengas are also in, so cotton or a blend is also an option!

Pick pretty summery hues that are refreshing to the eye and feel light too- give the deep maroons and blues a miss and stick to pretty pastels and light shades like yellow and orange! New lehenga shades like lilac, light mint, seafoam, dusty pink and peach and grey-beige shades are super trending for 2018, so maybe give them a try, not just for the smaller functions, but maybe for the wedding too!

When we say keep it light, we mean try not to have too much work on the lehenga- especially the heavy kind! You can easily give your zardozi a miss and stick to light work like gota patti, threadwork or even bridal printed lehengas, which look amazing! Lehengas with mirror work and floral embroidery with threadwork are super in these days on pastels, so maybe you could consider those!

Prefer easy and breezy lehengas rather than the heavy and rich ones, not only will they feel better, but go with the look and theme of the wedding too! Reduce the can-can on the lehenga to make it lighter- so keep the flare minimal or medium. Crop tops and skirts can be great, and so can lehengas which do not have heavy borders or work- more on that later!
Blouse Designs

Off shoulder, cold shoulder, strappy blouses- you can work all these really well in the summer season, and they look pretty trendy too! You can afford to show off more skin too, which will not only look great but keep you cool too. Blouses with open backs, net backs or stringy ones look great, and as far as the bridal lehenga is concerned, you can stick to those that are with cap sleeves or sleeveless which are totally in tune with the weather!
The Dupatta

In the summer you should really consider how much you need that second dupatta, and if you really do, then keep it super light with just a simple border! Try not to have super heavy dupattas, and you can even choose to add a refreshing touch with a floral printed, leheriya or light net dupatta so that the outfit looks breezy!

Words, designs, ideas - you name it. Brides nowadays are personalising every small bit of them with latkans and embroideries - we're loving the trend!
The Jewellery

Instead of layering loads and loads of jewellery, try and stick to statement pieces or light ones that are already layered, like this one with stones, which is so stunning! Jewellery with beads also works well, and stick to either a jhoomer, maangtikka or mathapatti, not two of them! For the Mehendi and smaller functions, try to make one piece of jewellery work- like say statement earrings! Try to remember- the simpler the better!
