A heartwarming poem written by the groom-to-be for his fiancé, a surprise pull-out photo cake (featuring many of their most precious memories together) brought in by the bride-to-be, some dance, a whole lot of fun and endless love - Shweghna and Divij's Roka ceremony was straight out of a Bollywood movie. Yes, it was simple and intimate but it was also grand in its own way. It was grand because of the couple's grand gestures for each other and it was incredibly special because it was the culmination of their beautiful college romance that had started almost six years ago!
Meet Shweghna & Divij
I met Divij 6 years ago in college. We spoke on the very first day and cringed thinking that we won’t even be friends let alone end up dating and getting married one day! But as fate would have it, we became the bestest best friends over time and eventually, fell in love. We had the same friend circle, so all of them have seen us together from day 01. Each day of college was better than the previous one because apart from dating, that friendship was always there with Divij!
Roka Ceremony
From The Bride:
This year in January, Divij - my boyfriend of five and a half years, proposed to me in the most incredible setting at the same place where we had started dating. After the proposal, our Roka planning started and it was decided that the Roka will take place on 2nd July 2022.
The Roka ceremony was exactly like I imagined. With our nearest and dearest ones around, Divij and I has planned surprises for each other. I got a pull out cake for him that had all our special images from our dating days. He, on the other hand, wrote the most heartwarming poem for me. I also planned the famous ‘shoe game’ and all our friends and family members cracked up while listening to our answers!
I was dead set on wearing a gown or a western outfit for my Roka function but when my mom and I started the hunt for the perfect outfit, we stumbled upon the lehenga that I wore at the function. While I had my doubts about wearing a traditional outfit, my mom convinced me otherwise. And, thank God for it because it was the perfect outfit and unlike anything I had worn before! The lehenga was from Frontier Raas and I was lucky enough to find it the very first day I started my Roka shopping.
Vendor Reviews
Photography: DelhiVelvet Photography
I had a plethora of phone calls and Zoom meetings with Divishth and every time, he was extremely patient and understanding about my vision for the Roka pictures. Milind and Nikhil from the team were running left and right to get the most dreamy pictures for Divij and me. My overall experience with DelhiVelvet was so good that they will also be shooting my wedding photos and videos.
Bridal Makeup: Vikram Maadan MUA
Vikram has been doing my makeup for years, So, it was a no brainer that he was going to do my makeup for the Roka ceremony. The best part about Vikram is that I don’t have to share any references with him. He’s so good with both hair and makeup that one can easily trust his instinct!
E-Invites: Sameera Khurana
Sameera is an International graphic designer who won’t be at ease till she does not give you exactly what you’re looking for. I asked her to recreate my proposal images as my Roka digital invite and the output was just perfect. From incorporating the smallest details to perfecting the animation, she did a fantastic job. I will definitely recommend Sameera to every one for their wedding invites!
