Definitely went over budget while buying my outfits. I kind of regret that though because now I know I may never wear them again, maybe just the blouses with some different sarees but the lehengas maybe never. I would recommend you buy your outfits 3 months prior to the wedding, not before. This helps because you cannot change your mind then – which I did because I finished my wedding shopping 6 months prior and then 2 months before the wedding decided to switch my wedding lehenga to a saree and then ended up not using one of the outfits!

I think I went over budget with my wedding vendors – especially the makeup artists and the photography team. I went with celebrity ones and while I was super happy with their work, I wonder if it was worth it? Maybe I could have researched more and got similar ones at a much lesser rate? So plan better brides!

The destination! I really wanted a destination wedding in Goa, the dream beach wedding and I think we went too overboard with it. One tip I would give brides is to be realistic. Set your budget first and then your venues and other spends. Being the only daughter, my parents also went all out and I just felt that it was unnecessary. So rein in your wallets and stick to the budget

It is so crazy that I am kind of embarrassed to even mention it. The thing we overspent on were exotic flowers for our décor. Such a waste man. I was so adamant about tulips and they were a pain to get and that is why super expensive too. Go for regular flowers, trust me after 1-2 hours you also stop caring what flower is hanging over your head.

Had to be alcohol. We had an open bar in 3 out of 4 events and that bill was a bomb. Plus we had hangovers left right centre. Totally against this. I would suggest you have wine and beer for smaller events like mehndi haldi and then an open bar at sangeet. Costs a lot less and less drama!

I would say we overdid our budget for the guests’ expenses. We had giant welcome bags, return gifts, favors at the wedding along with paying for the airfare, hotels and events. Spent a tad too much I feel in hindsight. Family pressure made my parents also go for it but I would say avoid it if you are planning your wedding soon.

This one was a disaster – it was jewellery. I got real jewellery first and then realised it doesn’t match my outfits when I did my shopping later so ended up buying more costume jewellery for that. It was chaos and money not well spent!
