I believe the one thing that you should definitely splurge on is your wedding caterer and food. Food is everything in Indian weddings, at least whenever I go as a guest it is. So, keeping good food, rather than 10 different varieties is crucial. Book a good caterer and do food tastings beforehand.
P.S. Here's how to calculate minimum guarantee to caterers!

I love weddings which I can dance at, so for me the one thing that I splurged on was a good music arrangement and an amazing DJ. A good DJ can take the vibe of your wedding party from 0 to 100. Totally recommend other brides to do that!

If you are planning a destination wedding, please give your guests good rooms. I have been to destination weddings where the venue is lavish but the room stay is so bad. I don’t mean to give luxury rooms but mid-budget standard at least. Your guests have made the effort to come so make that effort and spend for them!

Splurge on a good bar. Doesn’t have to have the world but it should be good quality and quantity. Have one of each – like one beer, one vodka, one whiskey but have good quantities. Alcohol getting over is a huge dampener at weddings and we went all out for this one!
Wondering how to calculate how much alcohol you'll need? We have you sorted!

The one thing in your wedding planning that you shouldn’t compromise on is your wedding photographer team. You may have the best venue, décor, makeup, lehenga but you need an ace photography team to photograph all of this. So this is the one thing I feel personally you should not try to compromise on.

Jewellery, jewellery, jewellery. So many brides pick imitation jewellery for bomb rates which have no value honestly. Go for smaller pieces that fit your budget but go for the deal real as it’s a good investment and will appreciate later. How many times will you re-wear a costume jewellery set that is your bridal set? Plus, it has no financial value. So don’t compromise on quality jewellery for random trendy pieces!

It would be my wedding vendors honestly. To save a few bucks you compromise on the quality of vendors and that’s where everything goes downhill. You may save a few pennies here and there but the headache that usually comes with sub-standard vendors is not worth the hassle honestly. So don’t try to haggle with good vendors or compromise on their quality of them.

I would recommend that you don’t compromise on your bridal look. Don’t succumb to trends and what ‘celeb’ makeup artists are saying on Instagram, go your way and do what you always dreamt of looking on your wedding as a bride. We listen too much to how social media views us which is sad because you are going to be a bride only once so do it your way. Makeup hair outfits everything.

A good wedding planner. I would not compromise on that. We had a destination wedding and we had to switch our planner mid-way because of the really bad job the first one was doing. We felt such a great relief once the second planner came on board and literally saved our wedding. Needless to say, we found the second one on the WedMeGood App!

This one is not a big splurge but it is an important one. Good shoes. Do not go for designer shoes that look amazing but you are uncomfortable. Invest in good quality shoes that look good or even have them made. It's an important splurge according to me!

The one thing in my wedding planning that I did not compromise on and believe no one should be your honeymoon. It’s the vacation of your life after the wedding madness is over and it was so good that we did not skimp on it. Go to a location where you can enjoy yourself freely rather than calculating every little thing. You have your whole life to do budget trips later, iss trip main jee lo zara!
