Weddings are the one time where you splurge on all possible things – be it your bridal outfit or your venue/ décor. There is an innate pleasure in shopping and doing things the way you like them, especially for your big day. While you may save on some and indulge in a few, there are some things that you shouldn’t skimp on. So we asked our real brides on what was the one wedding spend they wish they has splurged on in hindsight. After all, once the wedding is over, you get to know what mattered the most. So if you are a soon-to-be bride, here are the things that you should not hold back your wallet on- take it from the brides who've been there, done that!

I would say the one wedding expense I regret not splurging on was my wedding trousseau. I relied on the fact that I will get a lot of sarees and dresses as gifts so why buy or make my own trousseau. But the sarees that you get are not according to your choice unfortunately so I had to buy sarees and suits for post-wedding lunches, dinners and poojas in a hurry which I felt could have been a much better planned spend. So don’t save money like this and regret later!

I majorly regret not spending good money for my wedding photography. I thought that everything is in editing and everyone uses good cameras so why pay the big bucks but I so so regret it. Not that the team I picked was bad but they lacked experience and that shows in my wedding images which cannot be redone, unfortunately. So please please get a good photographer because however expensive your lehenga is or your makeup is, no point if it’s not photographed well because those are the only memories.Kiran says
I would say a videography team! I missed having all fun videos from my wedding thinking photos would be enough. For all brides, do not make this mistake especially if you have sangeet and cocktail events. This is the biggest splurge I regret not doing!

It was a big spend but I think in hindsight it would be worth it was not having alcohol at my sangeet night. I always went to other people’s sangeets and I saw people dancing without having alcohol too so I decided not to keep and save on some cost but I felt it would have made a big difference as people stay back till late and it’s more fun.

There were many honestly but one spend I truly regret missing out on was a wedding planner or wedding day co-ordinator. I had a destination wedding which we all cousins and friends planned to the minutest of details. Unfortunately, at the actual functions all I saw was my cousins and friends doing the running around and I felt bad that they did not get to enjoy the wedding as much as I would have wanted them to. So even if you plan everything beforehand have someone do the running around and have your family enjoy the events!

Has to be my makeup artist for my pre-wedding events! I went for a big name for my wedding and an amateur one for my mehndi and sangeet which I sadly regret. I would recommend going for a good makeup artist if not the best for all the events that fit your budget or else you end up looking very different in your looks.

Jewellery is my biggest regret. I saw online how brides are saying no to real jewellery and going for imitation ones but I think it was a bad call. I should have gone for real gold and diamond jewellery as it’s an investment for at least the wedding day and opted for imitation ones for pre-wedding events.
