"We had common friends who introduced us and bugged us to get together! The wedding dates are fixed. Both sets of parents are warming up to each other. My head was bursting with ideas to make the wedding special. And just then….the groom thinks it is time to propose!
The grand plan of the groom was a puppet show of their courtship leading to the all-important question – and then materialize from nowhere and go down on his knees (with the precious ring) to the mushy heroine. The usual suspects (friends) were roped in to help execute his grand plan and the puppets where outsourced through the Principal of the School of Drama, Bengaluru (ahem!). The venue for the proposal was this place Sai Radha in between Manipal and Mangalore. Friends were asked to lure an unsuspecting heroine to the venue in the pretext of watching this ‘amazing puppet show’. Predictably the technical glitches showed up including the screen on which the puppet show was to be projected falling off. As with all filmi climaxes things were stretched and finally it starts raining and the heroine walks in and the screen comes alive with the puppet show!
The hero and his supporting cast are hidden in a room holding their collective breath. The screen, the presentation and voices of her family and friends gets her emotions to the desired pulp consistency. All this is being streamed live to both sets of parents in India and bride’s sister-cum-groom’s consultant in Australia.
And at that dramatic moment the hero walks out and goes down on his knees. The heroine is overwhelmed and knocks off the ring as they embrace! And as if on cue,, the power goes off. And the global audience is left wondering if she said yes. It was really dramatic" says Megha.

The Wedding
The Christian Wedding
"Our wedding had a fun Gatsby Theme sangeet which everyone loved (coming in next post). Before the wedding, we had made an elaborate website and everyone was introduced in it. We had blog posts going throughout the wedding to keep everyone uptodate written by my talented father-in-law ( can be found under "my story" tab on the site). Other notable things at our wedding were:
- Welcome boxes with mine and grooms favourite things from chennai and from the middle east (since i was brought up there)
- All outdoor functions so all the decor aspects
- Baraat on the dance bus (since the scooter arranged was drowned in the cyclone)
- Personalized named chains to each bridesmaid and personalized single malt bottles for groomsmen (from Australia)
- Choir at the beach wedding
- Alcoholic Popsicles
So our wedding was in Chennai and was a giant 3-day event wherein we invited for 200-250 people trying to keep it as an intimate affair. There was an insane amount of chaos since all our events were outdoors and the decorators kept pressuring us to move it indoors, since cyclone vardah happened the day before but we stuck to it and didnt change anything just being hopeful. No drivers/ no ubers/no cabs, no power across half of Chennai, wedding cake got cancelled, videographers held up because no transport, guests couldnt fly down, flights were held up mid air and returned back! So whole lot of drama and we still had the most EPIC wedding yet!" explains Megha.
