BY Meenu | 06 May, 2021 | 15546 views | 2 min read

Each family has a way of starting the wedding festivities. Apart from the shopping and the planning, there is a small ceremony, a pooja which denotes the official start of the upcoming wedding. In most Telugu households the “Paspupu Kotadam” is one of those important ceremonies that flags off the wedding craziness!

The Pasupu Kotadam is where the turmeric for the Haldi ceremony is hand pounded using a large mortar and pestle by the family. This is like a pre haldi ceremony. The women are dressed in special colors- mostly yellow and in silk and take turns to finely powder the turmeric.

This is such an important tradition, and the bright & happy colours make for some pin-worthy images! So, we curated some truly inspirational images for you to bookmark and later refer to. These will help you in not only shortlisting your outfit but also decor, and other elements!

If you are thinking of an intimate Pasupu Kotadam, you can think of strings of yellow flowers with bits of the auspicious mango or banana leaves.

Do not forget to decorate the mortar and pestle too. Fresh flowers are the best way to go about it.

You can also plan your own theme! You can go modern with the decor by breaking away from the colour yellow but keep it traditional with silk half sarees!
