The one idea that we believe for pre-wedding shoots at LightSmiths is ‘personalised photography’. What we mean by that is that we want to create images with the couples that will resonate with them even 25 years the line. The theme for each pre-wedding shoot under personalised is different as every couple has their own love story. So be it the first café they met in or under one tree that they stole their first kiss at, the images should convey a story for the couple. With weddings getting more personalised and intimate in 2018, we think that this theme will work brilliantly this year and will always be a classic!

Couples are opting for more natural settings. Also, in the world of social media where they want to upload their images ASAP online, they want something that is more relevant to the online space. Instagram styled shoots are therefore trending. Fun captions and romantic quotes embedded in the background of these images is what couple are opting for!

Couples are aiming to extend their personalities in pre-wedding shoots rather than doing something that is not to their taste. They want the photographer to capture their personalities as it is or even their hobbies. Maybe it be cooking together in their new kitchen, baking or even working out together. Couples are no longer worried or scared to show themselves as un-glamorous. That trend is slowly fading away!
Fotowalle - The Story Folks says
Couples are opting for a more natural feel/vibe during their pre wedding portrait session. We foresee less of props and more of emotion and natural moments. Idea is to capture the couple in their natural element instead is making them uncomfortable and conscious. Also travelling to places away from cities - beaches, forests, palaces will be more in trend.

We try to incorporate Brenizer method when we shoot outdoors in beautiful locations so that we can capture the couple and also do justice to the beautiful locations. It is a photographic technique created by use of panoramic stitching techniques applied to portraiture; it was popularized by photographer Ryan Brenizer. The process requires the taking of multiple shots of a scene in a manner that allows for later image stitching later on. I really enjoy doing this because I cannot view the full picture till all of them are stitched together during post processing.

Unlike earlier couples are now open to experimentation for their pre wedding shoots. The conventional posing and outfits are now all bygones and couple love to do musical videos with a unique concept around their shoots personalized according to their likes! Conceptual shoots definitely are going to be a huge trend this year and we totally anticipate more of musical videos and conceptual shots in 2018!

Couples are getting more real and are not afraid to express this side of them. Pre-wedding shoots are becoming more and more personal by the day. Couples take this time and opportunity to express what they feel for each other or even say it through a gesture in the shoot. For example, this couple choose to exchange their vows in such a beautiful and natural setting while we were shooting them!
