We've been hearing about a lot of weddings getting postponed during this season due to the unfortunate pandemic. While we are trying to keep ourselves positive and send out the same vibes to you, this blogger bride's story made us smile even in this tough time. Meet Hanna Khan, a luxury lifestyle blogger, whose wedding was scheduled to happen at an international venue on the 15th of April and is now postponed till things get better. Hanna and Shahrukh, like a lot of other couples, are now stuck at their respective houses and spending time with each other virtually. Read on to know her story and a few interesting tips!
Their love story...
A random Facebook conversation that happened 3 years ago rung a bell in my head when a friend of mine mentioned the name 'Shahrukh Merchant' and coaxed me into going on a date with him. I spoke to him once on Facebook around 3 years ago and then stopped replying when he asked me out on a date. I decided to give him a fair chance this time and we began speaking which lasted for a month before I agreed to going on our first date. In the meanwhile, he had already contacted my best friend giving details about himself and discussing our life together if we hypothetically got married. This showed that he wasn’t afraid of commitment.
We dated for about 6 months until he popped the question in the most dreamy set up a private beach in Bahrain.
The current situation...
I was in the midst of my sangeet practices when all this happened. While it did feel bad in the beginning, we decided to postpone the wedding as soon as we heard of the Corona Virus, keeping the safety of our guests in mind.
The only thing keeping me sane throughout the entire postponed wedding has been his love and support. He keeps reassuring me that things will fall into place and we will have our big fat dream wedding. Even though we are far away from each other, we have realised that communication is key! We get on a video call whenever we miss each other and speak over the phone everyday. We try not to discuss about the wedding but instead use this time to focus on each other’s well being and our plans regarding our life together after marriage.
Tips for a long-distance courtship
Like me, if you are stuck in a long-distance courtship too, here are a few things I'd recommend you to do on a daily basis during this lockdown.
Plan virtual date nights
Either a movie night or a dinner date, there's nothing you can't do virtually! Plan something new every weekend and you will notice that your bond will get much stronger than before.
Frequent video calls
Video calls let you forget the distance for a bit and make you feel that the person is around you! Everytime you are low and wish that he was closer, do that video call and you will definitely have a smile on your face.
Motivate each other to workout
Couples who work out together, stay together. After all, you are soon going to be life partners but for now, be each other's workout partner. Motivate each other and fix a time each day where you can do the same fitness routine with him (virtually).
Prioritize yourself
Don't forget to prioritize yourself and give yourself all the care and love. From skincare, hair care, to reading a new book, give each other the space and do what you love. That will not only make you happier but also instill positivity in the relationship.
Make multiplayer games your new bff
You don't really know your partner unless you have seen his/her competitive side. Pick a game you both like and give it your best shot.
