Misty Mussoorie Wedding With The Bride In A Self-Designed White Lehenga

Set across the magical Shivalik mountain range in Mussoorie, Shloka & Sidhant’s wedding was no easy feat. While the wedding was scheduled for 2020, COVID had different plans. What was meant to be a larger affair, ended up becoming an intimate close-knit wedding in 2021 – but in Shloka’s words, “still the most magical” day. Adding to the beauty of the picturesque view was the bride in her all-white self-designed and custom ensemble from her own label Shloka Khialani. Looking nothing less than a vision, the bride not only managed to design her own lehenga, but also ensured that her bridesmaids were in-sync in custom made outfits from her label in shades of pink.

From the Bride:

While conceptualizing and sampling, I knew my lehenga was going to be understated and unlike what you’d expect from a bride because it strayed away from the golds, reds, and the usual contrasts. I envisioned a white wedding that was dreamy, mesmerizing, enchanting… And I knew I wanted to feel elated, ethereal, grateful.

The creation of my wedding lehenga spanned across 8 months. The ivory raw silk piece was painstakingly decorated with the label’s exquisite mother of pearl embellishment and adorned with glass beads, zardozi and thread work. This style featured two soft tulle dupattas along with a back sheer buttoned blouse. Look closely and the motifs were designed to reflect growth and optimism, wherein the floral jaal was created in an upward direction to signify that, along with delicate lotus flowers. The label’s signature dense to light work was incorporated at the hem of the lehenga instead of the conventional border. The full-sleeved blouse featured sheer hints while the addition of mint green meenakari jewellery encapsulated the vibe of the mountains -- surreal and heartwarming.

I wanted my bridesmaids to be an extension of what I represent, on this day. Seeing them in the label - in specially designed outfits based on their personality by me, was a memory I will cherish and hold onto forever.
