The finale of LFW by Rohit Bal is all things glam and simple at the same time. Does that mean that the future of a Spring-Summer bride is all about whites and minimalism? Maybe! but Rohit Bal does such a great job of it, we'd love to cover ourselves up in those floral embroideries and Kashmiri kali lehengas.
Inspired by Koroshini, which means to illuminate, Mr Bal's finale went for his usual elegance with a bit of dark romance - from beiges and whites, it was navy blues and even blacks. Showcased against the majestic backdrop of the St Xavier's college, this finale showcased everything that is signature Bal - floral rich embroideries, beautiful anarkalis and structured silhouettes. The flowers embroidered on the outfits ranged from springtime hibiscus and poppies to even roses and chrysanthemums.
Handmade cut work and lattice is beautifully paired with organic fabrics and add a bit of block printing, you're the star. Techniques like Shibori were also used and his fabrics ranged from Mulmuls, chanderis, pure hand spun silks and velvets. Especially the well-embroidered three-dimensional velvet anarkali worn by Kareena Kapoor Khan.
What do you think of Rohit Bal's collection this time? We'll say, go ahead, be that minimalistic bride, now is the time!
