When a wedding is called Keralafornia - you know you are in for a surprise. Plus, we saw this bride wear a kasavu sari from Kerala with kaleere - how chic! We also loved the little brooch on the groom, which was customised to say the brides name. Shot by Happily Ever After Photography and planned byF5 Weddings
Meet Shilpa & Deepak
"We started dating at the beginning of 2013, and we got engaged about a year and a half later in May 2014. When I tried to picture my life without Deepak in it, I just couldn’t envision it, and I knew I would be ready to take the next step with Deepak. Deepak says he knew from early on. It’s so great to be married to your best friend. We were in Milan for the WIRED’s Expo Milano where Deepak was a speaker, and Deepak surprised me by taking me to Venice for the day where he proposed with a simple flower ring just after our gondola ride. When we got to India after the trip, we got formally engaged in front of his parents with the diamond ring he designed for me. This was followed up by a formal engagement ceremony in California with 200 guests in tow," explains Shilpa. The Mehendi
The Wedding
From The Wedding Planner: "We had to bring out the essence of the two cultures in this fusion wedding. Shilpa was expecting guests from around the globe and Deepak has his parents and family settled in India. Our objective was to cater to both genres of guests.” It was to be a Malayali wedding. And to think of all the guests from around the world attend it, we wanted to give it a theme and that s when the wedding was officially pronounced KERALAFORNIA. From quirky caricatured itinerary card to welcome desk, all elements was created around KERALAFORNIA theme. Since a lot guests were coming to Kerala for the first time we thought of giving them a visual treat of the traditions of the state. The smell of jasmine and the sight of white Kasavu sarees with the serene backdrop of the Kovalam beach all came together to make this one a dream cross-cultural destination wedding. The groom arrived on an elephant with panchvadyam ( Kerala’s traditional orchestra comprising of 5 instruments). The ceremony was followed by a sit-down Sadhya lunch," says says Ajay Modgil CEO, F5 Weddings. A thrilled Shilpa says,” True to the brief , this Keralafornia wedding was a memorable affair. We would highly recommend F5 Weddings and team to anyone. Ajay and his team are truly professional dream makers. We thank them for making our dream destination wedding a reality!"
