You know what's the newest trend to hit weddings? It's the "Phoolon Ki Holi' where both sides can break the ice and play holi with flowers on the mehendi or haldi. And this "Gujjew" wedding played it to aplomb. With a mix of Jewish traditions and Gujju traditions this wedding shot by by Sam & Ekta - Sonder Frames was super fun !

"I'm a Gujarati & Alon is a Jew and we met in the US. One of the chapters of our love story was our beautiful 'Gujjew' wedding in Udaipur. The wedding was a lovely celebration of love, and the celebration of the Gujarati & Jewish marriage traditions as well" says Aesha. The Mad Hatters Pool Party

The Wedding & Reception
From The Bride:"The entire wedding party stayed at the Ananta Vilas where most of the wedding functions were held. We had a Music night with the bride & groom's families for evening drinks & dinner at the Leela Kempinski, with Rajasthani folk music and dance. Mehendi brunch was a beautiful affair with wacky decor - origami birds, bollywood themed bicycles, etc
The Mad Hatters Party saw all the guests arriving at the Ananta Vilas pool in crazy headgear. The DJ kept the party alive, while the Flair-O-Logy bartending team showed off their acrobatic skills. The party ended with everyone jumping into the pool and having a great time. The Sangeet function was full of amazing performances on a beautifully lit stage under the night sky. From the Gujarati garba & dandiya to the Jewish traditional dance, every performance brought the house down with applause. Phoolon ki holi day had the entire wedding party dressed in white/off white colours as they celebrated holi with orange/yellow marigold petals, as the dhols played in the background. The Jewish wedding party then did a traditional song and dance. This was followed by the haldi function where everyone took turns applying haldi to the bride and groom," says Aesha.
"True to the overall theme of the wedding, the wedding ceremony too, was a meaningful fusion of the Gujarati & Jewish traditions. For the baraat, the groom arrived in a specially designed yellow autorickshaw. As a bride, I had a baraat of my own, I came to the venue happy and dancing. This was followed by the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass and the bride & groom turned into husband and wife. The American style reception was an elegant affair with fun and emotional speeches from close friends and family. The Jewish Hora (or chair dance) followed soon after the cake cutting. The DJ then took control of the party. It was an epic end to an epic wedding," adds Aesha.
