Intimate Wedding With The Bride In A Brown Brocade Sharara

BY Aakanksha | 08 Dec, 2020 | 9773 views | 4 min read

When we first saw Namrata's picture, we were surprised by her choice of colour, as well as silhoutte! We raked our brains to remember if we have ever seen a bride don brown? Well, we came up empty and Namrata's outfit choice instantly became more appealing. We can confidently say, she wore on of the most offbeat outfits of 2020!

True to any pandemic couple, Arnav & Namrata got married in an intimate setting with stunning decor. With ample use of green hangings, baby's breath and white roses, Atisuto★ 4.6 created a paradise for the couple!

Meet Namrata & Arnav

Arnav and I have known each other for nearly half our lives. 16 years of knowing one another, a decade of long-distance, a few heartaches, and one pandemic later, we finally decided to get married.

The Wedding

From The Couple:

We were to get married in December up until late-October, at which point it became clear that things weren’t likely to get better. With just two weeks to go, we decided to move up the wedding to November 12 without delaying it any further given the changing travel rules and the uncertainty of the pandemic. We went into overdrive to get everything in place.

Honestly, neither the pandemic nor the impulsive change in date compromised our vision of the wedding. Pandemic or not, this is exactly how we had envisioned it – an intimate affair with attention to details.
Both Arnav and I were very hands-on with the wedding planning. I even designed our invites, the menu cards, place cards, and personalised coasters – it’s all in the details. We feel extremely grateful that we could pull off our dream wedding, and safely too.

The wedding in its entirety was a reflection of who Arnav and I are as individuals and as a couple. It was simple, elegant, and stylish. The best part? We had a great time from start to end!

Vendor Reviews:

Venue: Soho House, Mumbai
We knew we didn’t want our wedding venue to be a clinical hotel that has seen numerous weddings. With Soho House, our hunt for the perfect venue began and ended. It was the ideal setting for our small wedding of 35 guests that comprised of family and close friends. Ours was the first wedding to take place at the venue, which made it extremely special. We wanted the sea at sunset as a backdrop to our wedding ceremony in the eclectic Eva Room followed by an all-Italian sit down at their restaurant Cecconi. With an after-party later, it was a perfect night with a great set-up – nothing about it was predictable and typical.

Bridal Outfit: Raw Mango
When choosing my outfit, I had just one pre-requisite – I wanted something timeless that I can re-wear. I wasn’t dreaming of a princess moment – I was painfully practical. I’ve always wanted a Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg piece, and this felt like the right time to invest in one. The outfit I chose is an unusual one for a bride. The stunning brown Varanasi silk brocade cut in a sharara silhouette was traditional without being too conventional – an extension of my personality.
With jewellery, I wanted to keep it minimal. The key piece was an heirloom Tanmani (a traditional Maharashtrian necklace) that belonged to my grandmother and was handed-down to my mother. With a simple outfit and barely-there jewellery, I wasn’t the quintessential Indian bride, but I was 100 per cent myself.

Photography & Videography: Keegan Crasto and Shannon Lobo
I requested my friends Keegan Crasto and Shannon Lobo to take on the photography and videography respectively. They both work predominantly in fashion but made an exception with our wedding. Keegan is a dear friend and I was sure that nobody could capture the wedding and me better than someone that knows my quirks. It also made the experience more personal.

Make-up Artist: Chriselle Baptista
My make-up artist, Chriselle Baptista, is someone I had interacted with previously via work. I wanted a clean, pared-down, and fuss-free look. Chriselle ensured that I looked like myself – a flawless version.

Decor: Atisuto
Through a few friends’ recommendations, I got Ātisuto onboard for the decor. We didn’t want much drama – just something to enhance the existing beauty of Soho House. We were also mindful about not creating excessive waste. They did a good job with the subtle florals and a dreamy dinner tablescape, bringing my vision to fruition.
