Delhi Marriage Registration is a simple process that you can do online or offline to register a marriage in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It requires the submission of necessary documents such as proof of age, identity, and residence, along with photographs and previous marriage certificates (if applicable). A fee is also required to be paid for the registration process.

Now there are two types of marriage certificates. One is that you get married in court and get your marriage certificate then and there. The other one is you have your wedding in the religion you follow and then register the marriage at court.
Requirements to get your marriage certificate:
- The Groom must be 21 years of age
- The Bride must be 18 years of age

- Two witnesses (Three in case of marriage through the Special Marriage Act)
The Special Marriage Act, 1954 is a law in India that provides for the solemnisation of marriages between two individuals, regardless of their religion or faith. This act allows inter-faith and inter-caste marriages to be registered under a single law, providing a secular and uniform process for the registration of marriages across India.

Documents Required for Delhi Marriage Registration For The Couple
- Proof of age and identity, such as a passport, PAN card, driving license, or birth certificate.
- Address proof, such as a ration card, voter ID, or utility bill.
- Affidavit stating that both parties are unmarried and free to marry, as per the provisions of the Special Marriage Act, 1954.
- Three passport-sized photographs of both parties.
- Invitation card or letter of marriage.
- Previous marriage certificate (if applicable), in case either of the parties has been married before.
- NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the parents or guardian, in case either of the parties is below the age of 21 years.
Application Fee for Delhi Marriage Registration
Under the Hindu marriage act, the fee is INR 100
Under the Special marriage act, the fee is INR 150
Online Application
- Visit the official website of the Delhi government’s Revenue Department. Look for the Marriage Registration section and select Apply Online. Check this link here
- Fill in all the required details, upload the documents, pay the fee and submit an application
- After verification, a date for the appointment for the registration process will be provided, and the couple is required to appear in person at the designated office.

Offline Application
- Visit the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in the area where either the bride or the groom resides.
- Obtain the application form for marriage registration and fill it in completely.
- Submit the filled-in application form along with the necessary documents, such as proof of age and identity, residence proof, photographs, and previous marriage certificates (if applicable).
- Pay the required fee for the registration process in cash or through a demand draft.
- The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) will verify the documents and fix a date for the appointment for the registration process.
- On the designated date, both parties must appear in person before the SDM and complete the formalities.
- Keep a note of the reference number that you will get while submitting your application. This will help you to track the application later.
