Meet Us
We met while interning in the marketing division of a company. I thought he was cocky, he thought I was a typical Delhi girl (whatever that means). 4 years of long distance relationship later we finally tied the knot two years back. This March, we launched our labour of love - wed me good ;)
Honeymoon Style: Big city life mixed with relaxation and lots of fun activities.
Itenary : Hyderabad-London-Paris-Interlaken-Zurich-Delhi (We got married in Hyderabad but are based in Delhi, hence the wierd return trip)
Mode of Transportation: Flight to London via Doha using Qatar Airways. London to Paris via the Eurostar train. Everything else using Eurail (point to point tickets, no pass)
Hotels stayed at: Indigo Kingston Hotel London (was previously called Barkston Garden Hotel) , Best Western Latin Quartier Paris , Rugenpark Bed and Breakfast , Novotel Zurich
Hotel Reviews: Indigo Kingston- super value for money with great rooms (nice size for London) , and very centrally located. Best Western Latin Quartier - very very tiny rooms , but near the student district and close to tube station . Rugenpark Bed & Breakfast- quaint, homely facility with a swiss cottage feel, nice breakfast. Novotel - standard business hotel .
Preferred Cuisines: Non Vegetarian !

When we landed in paris, there was a gay pride parade happening! We had to walk 2 hours to find our hotel , with 3 heavy pieces of luggage and the fear of infamous paris pick pockets.

Some of our favourite moments /places from each city in the Honeymoon: London: London was our 'big city life' part of the honeymoon. Apart from the usual sightseeing like the London Eye (majorly over rated), we definitely recommend you see a westend play. Its an experience in itself - definitely the one called Wicked ! Apart from that, we just enjoyed the buzz around Leicester square, shopping at Oxford street, eating at Ping Pong , gambling at the Empire Casino, clubbing into the wee hours of the night at Tiger , Tiger , walking around Covent Garden and taking a nice picnic at Hyde Park/ Primerose hill! Paris: Disneyland Paris was awesome if you are a theme park freak, you must go on the Aerosmith Rollercoaster ride there. It is legendary ! Apart from that our favourite thing about Paris would just be the walks around the cobbled streets, the quaint cafes, the little coffee shops, the street food !! We did a lot of research on the best crepes and gelatos and falafels available and made sure we went to the ones that were recommended. The crepes at Au Petit Grec, the wasabi ice cream at Ze Galeri Kitchen and just the street food in general were amazing. The cruise at River Siene is gorgeous and a great way to see the entire city at night time!! The Louvre was nice (who knew the Mona Lisa is such a tiny painting) , but getting around was not always the nicest cos everything was n french and finding people who would stop to explain stuff to you was a bit hard Switzerland: This was the surprise package because the two days we spent in Interlaken were some of the best on the entire trip. Not only is the place absolutely stunning, picture postcard material there is just this quaint, feel about it that makes you want to fall in love with it. When in switzerland, dont check into a fancy pants hotel- get a lodge or B&B, to get a swiss cottage feel. It is lovely. Interlaken is tiny, just one stretch of road and there is a nice bicycle rental there from where you can basically explore the entire city ! From Interlaken you would probably spend a day going to Jungfrao/ Schillthorn for a lot of adventure activities like skiing, bungee , paragliding and a whole host of other stuff. . There is a waterfall in Interlaken called Glacier falls or trummelbach falls- something like that. They are AMAZING, you must go there just to experience the natural wonder. We also visited Zurich, but honestly apart from divine cupcakes we had at a cafe, it was just like a regular city. How we booked/ chose hotels etc: Two websites- booking.com and tripadvisor.com were our best friends in the lead up to the Honeymoon. The best thing about Booking.com is that they book a hotel without charging you anything (They take your credit card details but no charge is made). So we just booked a whole bunch of them to ensure they dont get booked out and closer to the dates we finalised on which ones we wanted based on reviews on tripadvisor. How easy/ hard is a trip to Europe on the wallet
Honestly, Europe is one of those places where you can really go in a range of budgets. Switzerland is very expensive for anything, right from hotels to food, London is slightly cheaper and Paris is cheapest. We would pay a premium to get a centrally located London Hotel (the earls court area where we stayed is awesome), because it is so much easier to just get to everywhere you want to go. We would not pay a premium for a star rated Paris hotel, because no matter where you stay, the rooms are absolutely tiny. Overall, you can honeymoon in Europe for anywhere between 4-6 lakh, more ofcourse if you seek luxury, and frankly if you are very the back packer kinds, and would want to stay in youth hostels then for even much lesser than 4.
