What happens when your high school prom date becomes your forever person? Aroushi and Shashank’s story is the kind that could easily be a Netflix series! Think globe-trotting romance, heartfelt reconnections, and a wedding that was equal parts dreamy, rooted, and ridiculously stylish. After years of chasing each other around the world, they found their way back to where it all began, Dubai- and decided to start the next chapter in the most magical way possible: with a 3-day celebration in regal Rajasthan. From a Tamil-Gujarati fusion of traditions to a setting that looked straight out of a classical painting, to the bride's mom doing her bridal makeup, this wedding was all about love, intention, and personal storytelling. And speaking of stories, a massive shoutout to Play The Novel for capturing the vibe just right!
Meet Aroushi and Shashank
"We met in high school in Dubai. We started as very good friends and were each others prom dates too. Then life threw us in different directions, since then we've been trying to catch each other around the world until we finally reconnected back home in Dubai and started our journey together all over again", the bride tells us.

About The Wedding
Our wedding festivities March 7, 8 and 9, 2025, with the March 9 being the main wedding day. Shashank proposed to me in Udaipur in October 2023. Since then, Rajasthan has held a special place in our hearts - from the majestic landscapes and rich culture to the incredible food and warm hospitality. We knew this was where we wanted to get married, and that's where the hunt began.
We envisioned a wedding that felt both traditional and contemporary, one that honored rituals from both our origins (Tamilian Brahmin and Gujarati) and made everyone feel like the celebration was as much theirs as it was ours. The vision was opulent yet grounded and peaceful - an experience that would feel like a dream. As a classically trained dancer, I always imagined a venue that felt traditional - something that feels like a relic of the past yet stands the test of time.
Being two very busy people - as are our families - we wanted the wedding to take everyone far away from their daily busy-ness and bring them into a space where they could simply feel the love and celebrate their part in our individual and collective journey.
Recommend every bride writes or draws up a vision document! I was encouraged by family to write it early on in the process and that helped keep me anchored through the planning process :)
Vendor Reviews
Photography: Play The Novel
Before I even began the venue hunt, I reached out to photographers - capturing the wedding in its purest form meant so much to me. Khozema from Play the Novel was one of the first people I spoke with, and actually the only one who sent a Google Meet link and turned on his camera. It was clear he was focused on telling a story rather than just capturing a wedding in the standard, cookie-cutter way. That interaction stayed with me, and few other options matched it later. The team, especially Khozema, had spoken with all our family members - both mothers and Shashank too - and it became clear they were the ones to capture our special day. Given how hectic a wedding can be and how easy it is for the bride and groom to forget certain photos, I love how the PTN team made sure to do their best to capture the important moments. Their passion for storytelling kept us in check even amid all the excitement - these photos and videos will allow us to relive our wedding for years to come. The entire team - Khozema, Raveena, Sid, Nikhil, Royd, Raunaq, Ankit, and others - was fantastic. They blended in like family and took the project as seriously as anyone who truly cares would.
Makeup Artist: Aroushi Beauty Salon
This vendor is especially close to my heart—my mom, Asha, runs Aroushi Beauty Salon in Dubai, named after me when I was three. The team has always felt like family, so there was never a question that they’d do my wedding makeup, with my mom leading the way. It was one of the easiest decisions in the planning process. We had a clear vision: makeup that felt natural and let me shine through—and that’s exactly what they delivered. The Aroushi team is professional, caring, and truly the best in the business. Having my mom by my side, doing my makeup for the most important day of my life, made it a full-circle moment I’ll treasure forever.
Wedding Planning: Discovery Events
The Discovery Events team was incredible from the start. Even before we officially brought them on board, Yash Gandhi was offering helpful guidance—which instantly told us he was the one to help bring our vision to life. He just got it. I shared a vision doc and mood board with him, and it felt like speaking to someone who truly spoke my language. The team was proactive, hands-on, and came in at the perfect time to manage the chaos—multiple vendors, scattered conversations, pending details—and pulled it all together seamlessly. Thanks to them, we could actually enjoy our three-day wedding stress-free. They felt more like family than vendors. From recording my walk during venue recces, planning menus together (special shoutout to Gyanjee—the food was unforgettable!), to hopping on a long train journey with us from Mumbai to Sawai Madhopur, they were part of it all. One of the most touching moments? When my best friend Sanya couldn’t make it from Pakistan, Yash and team surprised me by playing her recorded speech at the reception. In a space that often feels transactional, Discovery made everything feel deeply personal—and that made all the difference,
Venue: Nahargarh Palace
Nahargarh Palace is truly a gem. We almost skipped it during our first recce to Jaipur since it was 3 hours from the city, and we wanted to keep to a major city for our friends and family traveling from abroad. After seeing multiple venues on that trip and not feeling entirely satisfied, we decided to visit anyway. Lo and behold, it was everything we had imagined and perhaps more. The hospitality felt warm, not pretentious or overly refined - it felt like having people over, authentic and personal. The three-courtyard layout meant you were never too far from any of the wedding festivities. Each venue had its own distinct charm: A unique amphitheater that genuinely felt like a setting from the Mughal era The Hathi Kund, which allowed for 360° mandap seating and provided an intimate setting like no other The Bageechi with its fun garden-like vibe The Arjun Mahal, a beautiful indoor space that felt straight out of a movie Nahargarh also offered the perk of Ranthambore National Park nearby, allowing many guests to plan safaris before and after the wedding. As one friend remarked, the property felt like our "home" for those three days, which was exactly what we wanted.
Decor: Shaadiwala Wedding Planners Pvt. Ltd.
The decor was handled by Shaadiwala, based in Jaipur. They frequently work with Nahargarh and know the property inside out. The team brilliantly executed our vision - the decor was standout at every event: Royal reds at the welcome dinner Beautiful garden setting for the haldi and mehendi The most beautiful varmala and mandap setting that will live in our heads rent-free forever. They brought the whole venue to life without overshadowing its natural charm and beauty - only enhancing it.
