Ever wondered about this ? We sure have, and we wanted to know how much brides are spending in different parts of India. So we polled a few brides to be from each of these cities and gathered all their information. Here goes.
Delhi
Depending on whether you want to go through the halo'ed corridors of Emporio or the charming streets of Chandni Chowk, your lehenga cost will vary. On an average however our brides told us a this. Sakshi says "Really beautiful, high quality lehengas in South Extension or Chandni Chowk will come for around 70K to 1.2 Lakh . In some cases you can get a steal for the 50-60K range but if you are looking at pure raw silk with zardozi work and two dupattas, thats how much it will set you back by. The designer lehengas are ofcourse standard pricing across India and range upwards of 2.5. For girls whose budgets are around the 30K-60K mark, you can get beautiful Gota Patti work lehengas with lighter work as well. Shahpur Jat is another area - but not for bridal lehengas, mostly trousseau and sangeet outfits".
Mumbai
While Mumbai may trump delhi in terms of rentals and living costs, it actually is cheaper than Delhi when it comes to bridal outfits. Saachi says "The average Mumbai girl doesn't wear a super heavy lehenga and wants to be comfortable so I guess that's why Mumbai is slightly cheaper as compared to Delhi. If you are looking at high end designers and stores like Aza etc then ofcourse bridal outfits there are upwards of 1.5 lakh . However, if you are looking at smaller stores like Kalki , Jiya by Veer Design Studio or new age designers like Ritu Seksaria and Chamee and Palak then those you will find a very pretty outfit between 40K-1 Lakh. Newer and more trendy labels like Natasha Dalal which are perfect for your cocktail or engagement outfit would set you back around 80-90K "
Bangalore & Hyderabad
Anuya mentions "The Bangalore bridal market is kind of divided into the south Indian saree one and the one for lehengas. The lehenga market mostly has lighter lehengas for mehendi and sangeet since those are what people mostly wear. Apart from the big designers there are local boutiques and big shops like Neerus Emporio . You can get light lehengas between 20K to 40K and bridal lehengas between 40K-70K . In terms of kanjeevaram sarees, there is no limit. Stores like Sai Kanchi in Hyderabad and others in Bangalore have beautiful bridal kanjeevarams ranging from between 30K to 2 Lakh rupees.
Kolkata
Veda says "Kolkata is a gem for bridal wear. There are amazing boutiques in every corner here - from contemporary designers like Rashi Kapoor & Osa by Adarsh Gill, to multi designer stores like Sasya & Simaya , your local stores like Mukhtaar & Palki and boutiques like Anu Aggarwal -the quality of workmanship is honestly better than most other cities. Depending on where you go a bridal lehenga will set you back between 50K- 1 Lakh from these places. If a bengali saree is what you are after the banarsi sarees are quite affordable and you can get one anywhere between 15K-50K"
Jaipur
Anupreet says "Jaipur is a hub for Gota Patti and stores like Rana's , Vasansi etc have some very affordable outfits . I saw similar ones in Delhi at double the price. These type of stores will have bridal outfits between 40K to 90K ...and the ones which are more expensive will be designers like Swati Ubroi or Nidhi Tholia"
