Now here is a wedding which really gave us that warm fuzzy feeling inside. An intimate celebration in Kochi, this one came after the pandemic changed the plans a lot of times, and an official wedding in the UK a year prior. Anjali and Charles' wedding was an elegant affair, but what really stood out out for us was the bride's trousseau, which had some simple yet stunning picks, all designed virtually, and sustainable too. She converted her mom's saree to her mehendi lehenga, and we loved her minimal wedding outfit, which will definitely be a hit among brides who love the simple look! Check out this adorable wedding, with photos that'll put a smile on your face.
Meet Anjali and Charles
Charlie and I met on a dating app back in 2019. We just knew that we were meant to be together. We were engaged in 3 months! The wedding however, had to be planned a million times due to the pandemic. We had our British wedding during the pandemic in July 2020 with 6 people, followed by a celebration with family and friends in 2022 and then finally the Indian wedding in September.

From The Bride:
Our Indian wedding was meant to be an intimate family celebration with just family and few friends. I wanted Charlie to experience my culture and traditions and I planned it in a way that celebrated my heritage. We had Mehendi on the 10th, Wedding on the 11th afternoon and then a fun Sangeet.
My vision was to have custom made pieces that I could easily reuse. I wanted sustainable outfits and Origin delivered. It was all planned virtually because I was only getting to Kochi few days before the wedding.
Vendor Reviews
Venue: Casino Hotel, Willingdon Island, Kochi
I cannot thank the team at Casino enough for the amazing experience we all had. From the welcome till we left, we were looked after so well. The food was amazing and the venue was stunning. I wanted a traditional tharavdu feel and we got just that.
Photography: The Royal Knot
They were amazing. I had decided that they would be covering my wedding even before I was dating Charlie. I am usually awkward in front of the camera and they made the whole process seem so easy. The hundreds of pictures we got are so good that it's unbelievably difficult to pick out our favourites. They captured us and our family just as we are- crazy and goofy!!
Makeup Artist: Aishwarya Karayil
Aishwarya was amazing. I wanted natural makeup that looked like me and she gave me exactly that. I felt comfortable in my skin and most importantly, I felt like a beautiful bride.
Bridal Outfits
Origin (Mehendi):
My mehendi outfit was made from my mom's wedding trousseau. I have always loved that saree and when I was designing my lehenga for the mehendi, I decided to give new life to the 30 year old saree. The design and creation by Origin made it my favourite outfit. Hopefully I can now preserve it as a lehenga for many decades to come.
My wedding outfit was sourced, designed and made by Origin. I had a vision of white, red and gold in true Kerala style. Through many phone calls and Whatsapp chats, we finalised on the material, the embroidery and the design. The detailing was so amazing that everyone who attended the wedding was mesmerised by the outfit.
Ashwini Mathoor (Sangeet):
I'm a girl who loves black and have wanted a black lehenga for years! I got my dream come true with an Ashwini Mathoor creation for my sangeet. I felt like I was on cloud 9 when I wore it. It was so elaborate but also light. I danced for hours and it didn't feel like I had a banarsi lehenga on!
Groomwear: Manyavar
All of Charlie's outfits were from Manyavar in Bangalore. The team there were extremely helpful in suggesting outfits and helping Charlie try out different types of Indian outfits. We left the store with all of his outfits in just one trip.
Mehendi Artist: Mylanchi by Najumunnisa
Najumunnisa and her team were absolutely fantastic! I loved my bridal mehendi. We worked together on a pattern that I had visualised for myself. All my guests loved their work as well. Thanks a lot!!
Wedding Planning: Royal Knot Events
Nimisha and her team brought my vision to life. We had months of virtual planning through video calls, chats and more. I love detail and the Royal Knot Events team built that into every aspect of the 2 day celebration. My guests were talking about the little quirks days after they left. By the end of the wedding, The Royal Knot team (Events and Photo/Video) were like friends. We had such a blast!
