Head-To-Toe Monotone Lehengas With A Single Colour : Currently Slaying.

BY Latha Sunadh | 30 May, 2017 | 5421 views | 2 min read

We were totally on board with the monotone trend - top to toe in one hue with a healthy sprinkling of zaris, borders and embroideries - we get that. But off late, there seems to be a trend that showcases lehengas in one tone alright but even the embroideries, the dupattas, the threadwork themselves is all one tone.. Now why would brides choose that?

I'd say, simple is in but brides these days are investing in lehengas that are really light-weight - who wants heaps of embroideries to weigh you down. Another interesting idea is that when a lehenga is just plain, it begs to be worn differently - hence blouses getting innovative. From off-shoulders to backless, there's a lot going on.

But mostly, I'd say this trend could be a winner because you can wear each part of your lehenga and pair them up with anything and everything after a wedding. Versatility is the name of the game! And if you choose self-embroidery too, it's great because it adds depth to the look.

Here are the 5 tips that we think make monotone, plain lehengas even better. Take notes!

  1. Pick a great blouse - sleeveless, crop top or off-shoulder, it's very glam.
  2. It could be an Indian version of a cocktail dress if you keep it plain. That's the trick to balancing an Indo-western look!
  3. Go for a darker hue in a great silk fabric so it can look more expensive. If you are not using embroideries, stick to expensive fabric!
  4. This is a good time to spend more on jewellery and save up on a lehenga. Plain lehenga, colourful jewellery - win/win!
  5. Add variation on the outfit by teaming different fabrics together so there is variety!
