Gorgeous Registered Wedding In Mumbai With An Unconventional Bridal Saree

BY Aakanksha | 12 Aug, 2021 | 9021 views | 4 min read

Intimate celebrations are slowly becoming the norm and Drashti & Arjun's registered marriage was totally goals! A beautiful venue, the absolute closest of family and friends and a simple document signed - that is how the couple chose to tie the knot. The couple always envisioned a small, unconventional ceremony and ended up planning exactly that. They took care of all the safety regulations and had a celebration that was small, and safe. Drashti wore a stunning dull gold saree and looked absolutely ethereal with minimal makeup. What we also couldn't help but pin was the couple's jaimalas and the elegant cake!

Meet Drashti & Anuj

Our story is pretty corny – we met about a decade ago while interning in Mumbai and we had this instant connection. A few months later, we became the closest friends and that was probably the first time in my life that either one of us had let someone into their lives so soon. Both of us have had the exact same career track record and ended up thinking we are the exact same person. But eventually, as time went by, we realised that we are polar opposites. Our similarities may have gotten us together, but our differences helped us grow stronger.

The Wedding

From The Bride:

We got hitched on the 25th of June, 2021. Both of us have always been an advocate for small sustainable weddings – we always wanted something intimate with our closest friends and family around us. We have never been sold on the idea of your wedding being the biggest day of our lives and strongly believe that what comes after, is way more exciting for us than the actual wedding itself. And covid presented the perfect opportunity for curating a small and personal affair. We skipped all the rituals and decided to register our marriage with the registrar in Mumbai. We hosted a small sundowner by the beach where we signed papers, ate, danced, drank with our loved ones.

Vendor Reviews:

Venue: Soho House, Juhu, Mumbai
We wanted a small space that felt like a cozy home and Soho gave us exactly that!

Makeup Artist: Reema Patil
Reema is the nicest makeup artist I have ever met. She was just so professional and understanding and realised very soon what was the kind of look I wanted. And she is so so talented!

Photographer: The Blemised Tales
Nandini and Suman were an absolute dream to work with. She has this cheery energy to her that just makes life and photos so much better. She sent us a few preview pictures right after the wedding and Anuj’s joy to those pictures made absolutely everything worth it. I have probably seen that first bath at least a million times and I still love them just as much. Suman and Nandini were calm, accommodating, patient and just wonderful to work with – it's almost like having 2 friends taking your pictures.

Bridal Outfit: Saree - Raw Mango, Blouse - Miloni Shah
I have always been an admirer of Sanjay Garg’s work and I knew I would be picking an outfit from Raw Mango. I have never really had any fantasies of being a bride or looking like a bride and hence the “unconventional” gold saree is what my heart was set on. The blouse was designed by a talented designer called Miloni Shah who incorporated the Pichawai art form’s lotuses onto the blouse. I have grown up around Pichwai art and knowing a part of my outfit was inspired by it was truly heartwarming.
