Glamorous Summer wedding in Delhi

BY The WMG Bride | 04 Dec, 2015 | 5376 views | 4 min read

Floral walls are pretty much taking over the wedding world, but none like the ones we spotted in these wedding. From the giant paper mache roses on the engagement, to the traditional raspberry pink and green at the wedding, this beautiful wedding had two sides to it . An engagement that is avant-garde & modern and a wedding that has all the trappings of tradition - with the brides outfits to match. And all this beauty was perfectly captured by the expert lens at Atul Pratap Chauhan★ 5 .

Meet Gunjan & Shant

"We were in the same college pursuing the same course but he was my senior. At first, I was not sure if he is the guy for me. So, my answer to his proposal was no. But, as they say, when things have to happen, they happen.  We dated for 4 years and finally tied the knot. I look back and wonder how things fall into place so perfectly," says Gunjan happily.

From The Bride:  "We wanted a small and a lush wedding. Not many people but the best of everything.  Our families agreed upon three functions - they were literally like festivals for us. I wanted a very lively and colourful decor and so decided upon a flowery arrangement for the backdrops. Engagement followed a contemporary theme with 3D paper flowers. Mehendi was decided to be a pure traditional one with conventional marigold flower arrangement and the wedding had a traditional theme with a hint of contemporary feel with red flowers in the background. Both our ideas and thoughts were translated into reality and came out very beautifully," she added. "Who doesn’t want to look perfect at her wedding day? Same goes for me as a bride. I wanted to look the best but not go even an inch over the board.   The first thought that came to my mind was that I wanted an exquisite lehenga. The type of lehenga I fantasized about could only be from my favorites Sabyasachi or Tarun Tahiliani. So I ended up wearing a Tarun Tahiliani’s exquisite heavily embroidered lehenga with a beautiful broad flare, which I saw on the runway and fell in love with it. It has beautiful tones of pink, tomato red and crimson red. It had two dupattas, the heavier one had a thick border with a slightly different shade of hot pink and crimson red adding to the contrast. I used the lighter one on my head and draped the heavier one on my torso. I wore an elaborate, heavy polki set with a tikka having just a single string of polki as the mathapatti making the whole look very young and fresh. Hair & Make-up was of utmost importance wherein I did a lot of research and finally chose celebrity make-up artist Suman Joseph for wedding. I wanted to look myself and she did complete justice in achieving it," Gunjan explains. About The Other Outfits: "For engagement, I picked a strapless coral red mermaid gown with a beautiful trail. It had delicate thread and beadwork all over and a criss-cross back which fitted me like a dream. Rochelle gave me bright red lips and smoky eyes that went pretty well for the engagement. For the Mehendi, I wanted something light and breezy to dance and enjoy. Hence, I wore a bright orange and pink sharara. It was designed by my dear friend Shweta (from ROSH, Noida) who had done a lot of my pre-wedding dresses. Flower jewellery complemented my outfit whereas the make-up was subtle," she adds.
