Glamorous Engagement In Delhi With A Dash Of Sparkle !

BY Latha Sunadh | 20 Apr, 2017 | 5293 views | 5 min read

White and green decor and a bride in glittering teal . Meet Roli - the bride who designed her own engagement outfit down to the last glittery sequin . (There's a bg surge in brides doing this don't you think - we for one are all for it). We loved the adorable cake , the towering florals and oh hello, sexy back . Hosted at the Leela Palace, Delhi, this Engagement painted a pretty picture and let's not forget the  images the good guys at DotDusk Studios  delivered.  Beautiful

Meet Roli & Arihant

"Arihant and I grew up in the same neighbourhood for 16 years and never met or even knew each other. It was only in 2016 that we connected on Facebook through some common friends and he sent me a friend request. He was on a holiday in Seychelles and we basically spent all the time texting each other while he was there. We felt the connection early on. He’s a Stanford graduate, extremely smart and very courteous. The night he landed back in Delhi, he stole me away from another friend’s engagement party and we basically spent all night in a 5 star restaurants coffee shop, talking and getting to know each other. It was then when I fell for his contagious smile and irresistible charm. It was really that simple! Before we knew it, we were meeting every other night and spending all our time on the phone. Our families were super excited because they could see we were in love. Soon enough he proposed and hid a beautiful solitaire ring in my purse. I was so surprised I don’t even think I grasped it for a few seconds. But of course I said yes and I proudly wear the ring now!" says Roli.

From The Bride:

"We wanted to celebrate with our close friends and family in a way that reflected our personal style and taste. We wanted a charming setup that was both elegant and unique.  We went for an all-white décor with hints of gold complemented beautifully with crystals and candles. Hanging florals welcomed the guests and continued throughout our décor theme. We exchanged rings in the midst of hanging chrysanthemums and wisterias that created an ambience that our guests would remember. We had a live jazz band play some beautiful tracks throughout the night and that created a wonderful ambience. For our couple dance, we went old school and picked a celebrated Indian song – Gulabi Aankhein and the guests were all left pleasantly surprised and thoroughly entertained. The food was delicious and the folks at Leela made sure that everything turned out perfectly.

"After searching almost every designer store in Delhi and Mumbai, I realized that my engagement gown was not something I will find on a rack. I knew I will need a custom-designed gown. It was a no brained for me to design it myself. I'm a NIFT delhi graduate and I knew exactly what I wanted, right down to the smallest of details. It took me roughly 10 days to conceptualise the gown and collect all the fabrics, swarovskis and other crystals for the gown. And it took my team another 65 days to execute the gown and get the fittings right. I choose a deep jewel tone because I wanted a statement gown. The colour emerald looked rich and as I walked in holding my fiancés hand, I felt like royalty. Every little crystal was handpicked and glistened as we walked. The hard work paid off because my fiancé couldn’t take his eyes off me all night as we danced our way to glory!" says Roli.

"I travelled to Mumbai a few months before the engagement and fell in love with this beautiful diamond master piece at Tribhuvan Das Bhimji Zaveri. I instantly knew that this was the perfect piece of jewellery I would cherish in my wardrobe forever. I picked an emerald and diamond bracelet to match my gown and I was sorted!

The groom went in for a custom designed tuxedo by the talented Abdul Halder. He sent us samples of exquisite Italian wool fabrics and we picked a dark navy colour that would look perfect with the bride’s emerald gown. He also customised a classic white shirt with pin tucks that complemented the look and the groom looked sharp all night" adds Roli.
