One elaborate wedding this one, Kerpal & Balvin's multi-cultural global wedding is one helluva party. From Malaysia where the brides to Melbourne where the groom stays, it was a crazy adventure. Balvin, the bride made sure she showcased their love for travel and their favourite cities were embedded in the decor so sweetly. The Sangeet and the Mehendi were as kitschy and Arabian Nights-inspired as they get and the Gurudwara wedding was a serene, calm affair - all in all, a party that went on for 8 days across the ocean. Photography by Armadale Weddings sealed the deal and showcased all the fun beautifully.
Meet Kerpal & Balvin
"We met when I was on a solo trip to Melbourne for the first time in Feb 2011. As I was going alone, a friend of mine in Kuala Lumpur who also happens to be Kerpal's best friend had given me his contact and said I could get in touch with him in case I needed anything. That's how we met and Kerpal spent some time showing me around Melbourne. After I left, we kept in touch constantly through many many emails everyday ...just as friends and as Kerpal had family in Malaysia, we would catch up every time he came down. That made our relationship a little easier. Though he was very keen from the start, I didn't see it anymore than friendship and we went on like that for about 3 years ...we only officially got together in Jan 2014 and the rest is history," adds Balvin.

The Reception
From The Bride:
"I'm from Malaysia and my wedding was held in Melbourne last July and the Punjabi wedding last September, which was held in Malaysia for one week. The Punjabi wedding comprised of many ceremonies and I wanted each one of them to blend tradition with trends, which thankfully we managed to pull off. Our reception was themed "Cities We Love" as ours was a story that evolved around the globe, so we incorporated elements of that for the reception as well as the invites. The Mehendi had icons of Paris as that's where my husband, Kerpal had proposed. The wedding cake and dessert table was done solely by my sister, who bakes for a passion," explains Balvin.
"Our return gifts were many, for the sangeet we use potli bags and filled them up with crushed dupattas, bangles and barfi for all guest. Whereas for the mehendi, we gave away colourful bracelets.
On the wedding day, all the ladies in the baraat were given shawls while all guest who attended the gurdwara ceremony were given clutch bags with ladoos in it.
The reception had its own set of door gifts, which was essentially a mixture of things from each of the cities that meant something to us. There was a ladoo to represent Mumbai, a New York themed cookie to represent our first holiday destination, English tea bags to represent London, jordon almonds and chocolates to represent Melbourne where Kerpal is from and where we first me and lastly a paris luggage tag to represent the proposal in Paris. The entertainment for the night too had touches from each city from Bollywood dance numbers from Bombay to Broadway inspired performances to replicate New York. We even had a little girl sing an opera song for us to represent Paris," adds Balvin.
"It took a year to plan it all ...but it was well worth the effort. I totally love WedMeGood .. it has been such a great guide in planning the wedding of my dreams! Thank you!!!" exclaims Balvin.
