After all, it's not necessarily going to show, and anything golden or fancy will go, right? WRONG! Yes, it is imperative that you find wedding shoes that not only are a perfect fit and perfect match, but comfort is also a big factor, so that your feet do not bear the brunt at the end of the day... and trust us, it can get super tiring!
P.S. Start planning soon, as finding the ideal pair can take quite a while!

Finalise the shoes before altering the length of the lehenga
Don't leave the shoes for the end. The ideal thing to do is to wear them to the trial for the lehenga alteration, so that you get the length bang on!Keep your wedding venue in mind
If you have an outdoor garden wedding or a beach wedding, pointy heels might not be the best bet, as the heels tend to dig into the grass or sand. You can either switch them up for wedges or wear transparent heel protectors, which avoid the heel from digging in. So consider your wedding venue before buying those shoes!Practice your Sangeet dance in them
So you have your moved down pat. But did you try on these shoes to actually know how you will dance when there is four inches of bling beneath your fancy free toes ? Make sure you dance with your shoes on . Sometimes you might need to alter some steps etc so that everything goes smoothly. If you are wearing a paayal, keep that in mind Anklets look great, but if your shoes have straps across the ankle then it will interfere with the look. Also keep in mind whether you want stilettos, wedges or flats. We'd say pick only what you're used to. Stilettos are possible only if you're used to wearing them, wedges are good for general comfort and stability and flats are of course the most comfortable of the lot. Do not try out heels for the first time at your wedding if you aren't used to them! Juttis are also an awesome option, as they are super comfy and traditional at the same time! Some brides are even rocking sneakers below the lehengas!Customising shoes is also an option now
If you have very large or very small feet, it can be quite a task to find good shoes, let alone heels. Remember, there are a lot of websites offering customised shoes now. You can choose from uploaded styles or design your own in whatever size you want! But make sure to do this well before time so if by chance they don't turn out like you want 'em to, there's still time for Plan B.Our favourites places for customised shoes are: Dnuvo or Fizzy Goblet. Also designers like Rohan Arora, Aparajita Toor and Veruschka do a great job!Photo Courtesy: Pooja Joseph Photography
They need to be super comfortable
You're probably going to be wearing them the first thing in the morning to the last thing at night (if it is a day wedding and night reception), so they need to be comfortable. The sole should not be super hard, but a bit spongy. There are good quality gel arch pads also available in the market, which can increase the comfort a lot, especially in problem areas.Break them in
Wear the bridal shoes for a couple of hours at a stretch after buying them and before the wedding day to break them in, even if it at home! That way they'll get moulded around your feet a bit and be more comfortable on the D-day.Photo Courtesy: Cam Catches
