Being environmentally conscious on your wedding is something that is the need of the hour, and we love couples who show that initiative! This couple's desire for an authentic and nature-inspired celebration influenced every aspect of their wedding planning. From eco-friendly plantable wedding cards to a minimalist yet vibrant decor to the return favours from NGOs supporting various causes, every detail was carefully curated to reflect their personalities and values. A stunning mandap nestled among tall pine trees set the stage for their pheras, creating an atmosphere that felt both serene and enchanting.
Over to Jagriti, as she tells us all about the small changes she made in her wedding planning, that have a big impact on the environment- proving that anyone can do it as long as they take the initiative to!
Meet Jagriti and Sahil
Both London residents, we serendipitously met in Vienna, Austria, in 2019. Our love story unfolded amidst our shared passions for nature, hiking, exploring new places, and savoring diverse cuisines. As we embarked on this beautiful journey together, we knew our wedding had to reflect our love for the outdoors and our deep connection.
We envisioned an intimate celebration surrounded by our closest friends and immediate family, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. After careful consideration, we settled on the enchanting hill station of Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh. Through thoughtful choices in invitations, decorations, and return favors, we tried to make our wedding both beautiful and sustainable- leaving a positive impact on the world around them. We envisioned a wedding that not only celebrated our love, but also reflected our conscious choices to incorporate eco-friendly and socially conscious elements into every aspect of our special day.
1. Environment-friendly Wedding Invites
Starting with the wedding invitations, we opted for plantable cards, from Plantables Store, embedded with basil and wildflower seeds. This not only added a unique touch to the invites but also symbolized our desire to give back to the environment.
2. Minimal Decor, Minimal Waste
For the decorations, we were mindful of their mountainous venue and chose to keep the décor minimal to minimize waste. When flowers were necessary, we opted for reusable ones keeping the environment in mind. We also tried using a lot of fabric instead of real flowers, as that is reusable.
3. Return Favours That Give Back to Society
Even for return favours, we decided to support various NGOs and small enterprises by purchasing items from them. These items were carefully curated and packaged in potlis made from leftover sustainable cloth, further reducing waste and supporting ethical practices. By selecting return favors from NGOs, we not only offered meaningful gifts to their guests but also contributed to social causes and supported communities in need. (Some of the entities supported include- Aarohi, Oh Scrap Madras, Forest Post etc)
