Are you recently engaged? Have you had aunties / distant friends and relatives ask you : 1.) OOh, how many carats is that? 2.) Wow, can I try it on? 3.) Must have cost a lost, kitne ki hai? 4.) Solitaire nahi diya kya? While its perfectly okay to discuss your ring specs with close friends, and family, and its perfect okay to obsess over it with your cousin who is also tieing the knot and in the market for a ring, we personally feel it is incredibly rude for distant people to check out your ring and ask such detailed questions. Infact this is way more common in India than abroad ! First of all, how many carats it is - is nobody but you and your husbands business, the cost question is just mind-numbing and while you may let your sister try it on, we think its kind of rude that people here ask these questions so commonly. So we thought we should give you some polite answers to give back to some of these questions..Guest: How many carats is that? You: Dont know- I just love how sparkly it is!
Guest: Ooh can I try it on? You: I would have loved to have you try it on but Im a bit superstitious about these things !!
Guest: Must have cost a lot, how much You: Blank stare
Have you been asked any of these questions about your ring?
Do you think these are not rude at all and you don't mind answering?
