BY Aakanksha | 20 Jun, 2020 | 10057 views | 4 min read

A gorgeous ivory lehenga, with a hint of blush pink, Taruna's bridal outfit was perfect. She looked elegant as she tied the knot with her childhood love! Held in Fairmont Jaipur, it was a beautiful wedding with a touch of royal elegance to it, captured effortlessly by Weddingrams★ 4.8

Meet Taruna & Ankit

The Love Story

I met Ankit as a preteen in a park in Dubai! In that era of no mobile phones, we grew fonder of each other through meets and local landlines. We grew closer when he started sharing all his love problems with me while I shared all my mischievous escapades with him. Eventually he moved to US for higher studies and we stayed in touch on emails and BBM and caught up whenever he was visiting his family in Dubai. When he eventually moved back after his studies, we were both working adults aged 21 & 23 respectively, hanging out often. Its then when we realized that we had a lot more in common. While he had tried his luck with me earlier, it was 1st January 2010, when he asked me out again and I decided to give this a shot. That’s how #Nautanki happened.

The Proposal

It was all fun & games, until one evening he, along with my sister Trisha, conspired the BIG PROPOSAL. We were all gearing up for an evening in Bollywood Parks & Resorts, Dubai, where after heavy persuasion I grudgingly went in sneakers, track pants and a simple tee, wondering why the hell is everyone dressed like they’re here for a photo-shoot! When I was queuing up for a ride with my younger cousin, I spotted Ankit's parents and I realized something’s going on. Suddenly, ‘Tune Mari Entriyaan’ (my fav song), begins playing in the background & Ankit comes hopping on his 2 left feet along with a few characters from the evening parade. These dancers pull me up on stage while Ankit goes down on one knee & pops the question. My eyes searched my father and when I finally asked him ‘Pappy, should I say Yes?’ He looked up from his phone camera screen, smiled and gave a Thumbs up sign. And that’s how I relieved the young man who was only so glad to get off his knee. I said ‘YES’.

The Wedding

From The Bride

It began with a bang, spread over 3 days! All our functions were held at various banquets and lawns at the Fairmont Jaipur. The festivities were an array of pooja's and ceremonies since it was a mixed culture wedding. We hosted a welcome dinner on first evening for close friends and family. The second day started with Ankit's Ganesh Puja, followed by a combined Haldi + Holi Party function. In the evening was a glittering Sangeet with filmy entries, followed by an Athlesure themed after party! Our phera was set in the Beautiful Sahiloon ki Badi at the Fairmont, Jaipur. The setup was breathtaking. It was a sundowner affair. Soon after out respective photo-shoots were done, both of us proceeded down for our respective baraats. Yes, we had a bride’s baraat too. The wedding ceremony was a Dream come true, as we took our pheras surrounded by people we love with their most precious blessings being bestowed upon us. We then dove right into the Reception. Since my father’s side is Christian, we wanted to give the Reception a Christian wedding feeler. We had a wedding match, my family & best friends raised toasts, I threw the bouquet for my friends to catch & the fun carried on into the wee hours of the morning!
