Do’s & Don'ts For A Week Before Your Wedding!

BY Sakshi | 24 Jan, 2020 | 2186 views | 5 min read

Possibly the most hectic and exciting week of your life! Yep, no one can really control the butterflies in the stomach when the wedding is just around the corner, and with all the preps, excitement and butterflies, it can be hard to remember to take care of yourself in the last leg of the preparations. So to make things easier to remember for you, here is a list of do's and don'ts to remember in the week just before your wedding.

Here are the do's and don'ts to keep in mind.

Do's

Test drive the full bridal look

This is very important- to make sure you're all set for the big day. Might have been a while since you tried on everything together- outfit, jewellery, shoes everything. So you're sure about everything! Of course, everything will look a lot better on the main day when there's professional help!

Get as planned for the big day as you can

This will save you so much hassle during the wedding. Make lists of all vendors with their phone numbers and payment status- you will thank yourself on the big day when you have to take care of things yourself or hand them over to someone else!

Sort and ready your outfits and accessories as per functions

This is also one thing for which you will thank yourself later! Keep everything organised as per function- with the outfits, accessories, shoes and jewellery all together. Also make sure to iron or steam the outfits while you're at it.

Break in all your bridal shoes

All of them- even the juttis! Make sure the shoes are comfortable and broken in well so you don't have to deal with any discomfort later.

Clean your wedding ring

Your hands are going to be photographed, so might as well clean it and make that stone sparkle well! An easy way to do it is to soak the ring in club soda for about an hour.

Get a mani-pedi

After all, your hands and feet are going to be photographed! This is even better if you can do it with your bridesmaids and/or mom and mother-in-law. Get your mani-pedi done day or two before the wedding so your nails are as pretty as possible.

Cross check the final tentative headcount

Finalise the seating arrangement while you're at it. This will make sure you're prepared for any last minute surprises!

Cross check everything with the vendors and prepare payments

Timings, payment, payment modes- anything and everything that you can with them so everything is as per plan! Keep cheques ready so all you have to do is sign on the final day!

Confirm honeymoon logistics

Double-check your flight times and confirm your hotel bookings and any other activity or dinner reservations you might have.

Assign someone as your 'gift' person

This one is something that takes a lot of couples by surprise on the d-day. Designate a person to keep all the gifts, especially those easy to lose envelopes with money in them! Make sure to mark a space on or near the stage to keep the gifts as well.

Designate a social media guru

Assign a trusty bridesmaid or groomsman to take care of any social media logistics like testing out your Snapchat filter on the big day or encouraging guests to use your wedding hashtag.

Fill up welcome bags or ready the favours

This one will also save you a lot of time closer to the wedding. Keep them ready while you can, and take help from those around you to do it!

Pack your bridal emergency kit

Very very important. Find all that you need to add in it in the list here.

Pack your wedding day and honeymoon suitcase

You will thank yourself for doing this favour for yourself later! Get everything ready to just take along.

Check the weather forecast

Super important, especially if you're having your wedding at an open venue. You might have to make a few tweaks or changes if its super sunny or rainy that day.

Relax and breathe!

The most important thing! Relax.. you got it! Take some deep breaths everyday and get excited, and not nervous about your wedding!

Don'ts

Apart from these Dont's for your wedding day, here are some you have to keep in mind leading up to your wedding week!

Don't let your nerves get the better of you

We all lose it when we are stressed, and a week before your wedding is a time when you're very prone to losing it! Disagreements or fights with your near or dear ones or even your future husband can happen, and you should do your best to avoid them by keeping your stress in check! Nip the argument in the bud before it can turn ugly!

Avoid the temptation of trying out something new

Whether its skincare, makeup, a new diet or a new exercise regime- it can lead to skin or tummy issues or maybe even a nagging pain. So as exciting as it may seem, resist the temptation to try out anything new!

No hair removal this week!

Do it about 10 days to a week before the wedding- not closer to it. Whether it is waxing, threading, Brazilian wax or anything- it can lead to sensitivity, redness or swelling that may or may not subside by your big day.

Binge drinking might sound perfect, but it's not!

You wanna party hard in the run up to your wedding, but resist the temptation! Binge drinking can lead to an unwelcome pimple, bloating and general dullness and puffiness on your face, especially around the eyes.

All nighters to finish wedding preps- avoid at all costs!

We understand- there's so much to do, and so little time to finish it! But avoid staying up at night to do them, try and get some restful snooze time so that you're nice and fresh when the chaos hits. Plus, you might not get enough rest in the days during and after your wedding, so stock up on sleep and rest now!
