Till about five years back, the thought of letting a photographer enter your dressing room would have drawn horrified gasps from all the Aunties at your wedding ! Today however, the 'getting ready' shots might probably be some of your favorite photographs; and to make sure you get snaps that are unforgettable and a "getting ready" experience that makes you a Bride-chilla (not a bride-zilla) these neat ideas should have you sorted.
- A Personalised Bathrobe | Soon to be Mrs?
From the wedding: Amby Valley Wedding with dozen Ideas to Steal | Photography: Pooja Joseph |
Love this bathrobe that you can wear as you get your hair and makeup done. Radhikas bathrobe said "Soon to be Mrs.Doshi" but you can get yours to say anything you want to. Bridezilla, Future Mrs.XYZ...you get the drift right? Where to get these from? A lot of personalised gifting stoes such as will have these
- A Bride to be Sash| Future Mrs....
From the wedding : Jasmine and Mayank (coming soon) | Photography : Rishabh Agarwal
Jasmine wore a sash while getting ready which said "Future Mrs.Bhandari". You could just save the sash you wore on your bachelorette and wear that as well
- A pre-getting ready photoshoot with your girlfriends | The ultimate stress buster
From the wedding: A Mumbai wedding with a bollywood vibe | Photography: Joy Manavath
This bride Ridhi had a super awesome photoshoot with just her girlfriends just minutes before she started her getting ready process. She says "It was an instant relaxer, and I didnt feel the least bit nervous after that"
- Gift each other something special for the wedding day | Have it kept in the respective dressing rooms.

This bride didn't know that her groom had secretly hired a photographer to capture their proposal. He kept it a secret for a year till he gave her a surprise gift on the day of the wedding- a framed photo of their proposal .
Nothing is more fun than opening a surprise gift- but opening a surprise gift from your groom to be as you are getting ready - thats just next level. Besides, how awesome would the photos be of your reaction when you unwrap your gift.
- Make sure your drink is labelled | Starbucks can do it!
You would be needing a juice, a coffee, or an ice tea to keep you hydrated as you get dolled up. Run to your starbucks and make sure they label your drinks with appropriate tags (hey they put your name on it anyway, they can change it up and put your designation!) . Or better yet, if you have the time then get a Blinged out Sippy cup for the bride
- The brides best friend can organise this| Letters for the bride
Photo from: Letters from Lauren
Have the brides parents, sister and friends write a short note to the bride which she can read as she gets ready. The last one can be from the groom!
- Have your sister/ friends send this photo to the groom| Way cute
photo by perry vaile via the lovely find
Super easy to do- just write down the words on papers and have your sisters and friends post like this. Make sure they send a whatsapp to the groom while you are getting dressed!
- Have something special attached to your bridal outfit
From the wedding: A Disney inspired Indian wedding | Photography: Tarun Chawla
Bride Pallavi attached this disney pin to her lehenga. The significance? Disney land was her 'happy place' and she wanted to take her happy place with her on her wedding day. Think of a unique detail you want to take along with you- Angelina Jolie had her kids drawing incorporated into her veil !
-Get your dressing room decked up - get cupcakes, music, balloons and confetti
There isn't anything more relaxing than getting ready in a room with all your girls, munching on cupcakes, cookies and sipping on lemonade (or coffee in the winters) . Plus a few small details like adding pastel balloons or confetti in your room can make your photos come alive! You may want to put a special playlist on your ipod- your special song, or your favourite love ballads.
What say girls??
