Dream proposals do exist, this here is going to prove that! What's better than a SATC style proposal for a bride who's obsessed with shoes, that too in New York City? Well Snehil and Arun have an adorable love and proposal story, and their wedding was the stuff of fairytales too- beautiful, trendy and full of love! We loved her bridal outfits, each one better than the other, and styled beautifully. We especially loved her Jade by Monica and Karishma lehenga that she wore on her wedding day. Here's a wedding to take oodles of inspiration from! And guys, tips on how to propose! :P
Over to Snehil as she tells us all about her proposals and her wedding.
Meet Snehil and Arun
Arun and I were brought up in India (He is from Amritsar and I am from Bangalore). Currently we both work in Finance industry in New York City. We met in Grad School in New York. We were both elected to run Indian Grad School Association. We became best friends there. We both are food lovers (which kind of brought us together). Arun is an obsessive Cricket lover (hence our wedding hashtag: #BhattGotaRunOut) and I love fashion and I have an obsession for shoes (I don’t know if I should be proud of it but I definitely own more than 100 pairs of shoes. It also played a big role in our engagement).
In a very 'Jaane Tu ya Jaane na' style, we could never date other people since Arun and I were too close of a friend. During one of our friends’ bachelor trip in Miami in 2017, we felt a weird vibe, and once late night at the beach we just held each other’s hand and it just felt right and organic. Rest is history.
The Proposals!
Believe it or not, Arun proposed 3 times! Arun knew how obsessed I am with shoes. I have always been the Carrie Bradshaw of my friends circle. I used to have the shoes that Mr. Big proposed Carrie with as my phone wallpaper since past 3 years. I would say to myself that one day I would buy the same shoes. In 2020, during our 3 year dating anniversary, Arun and I went to our favorite late in Up State New York and he went down on one knew with the exact same shoes. Funny part - I went into shock after seeing those shoes and completely forgot to respond him with a Yes or No.
4 months later, as my post birthday celebration, we went to Central Park and I have always loved the Fall weather in New York and wanted to get a photo shoot done. We went to our favorite location - the gorgeous Bow Bridge and out of nowhere, Arun pulled this huge Rock and said - I had to do it the classic way.. this time I made sure I said a big YES to the love of my life. We had Arun’s family waiting later to celebrate. It was just perfect.
Round 3 - four months before our wedding, during our 4 year dating anniversary, we decide to drive to our university where we first met. When we reached, Arun had planned a whole setup with flowers and balloons and he said the most beautiful words - “We are getting married and there hasn’t been any point in my life I have been more sure about”. This was during the time when I was very overwhelmed by all the wedding preps and used to have doubts around why we are doing this. I call it the promise proposal where he wanted to say a part of his vows with just us two alone and without any pressure.

From The Bride:
I have always been a planner and always loved throwing parties so this was definitely my moment. New York City played an integral part in our love story so I had no doubts regarding the location - it had to be NYC. As I mentioned, there’s something very romantic about the fall weather in the city so we nailed down Sep - Oct as the timeline. I picked a gorgeous Marriott Hotel as the venue which has the most breathtaking view of New York City Skyline and it paid a perfect homage to our love story. For the decor I knew I wanted to stick to the whole Fall Vibe so I incorporated a lot of maple leaves, Pampas Grass. I also wanted to keep it minimal so that we don’t obstruct the view so we went with a non-traditional mandap set-up. We had an intimate wedding - I always wanted an intimate wedding even before the pandemic because I wanted both of us to feel as free and enjoy as much as possible without any social obligation. So the entire theme surrounded a very homey environment and making it as fun as possible for all our closest friends and family. My Sangeet Decor was inspired by my lehenga. I wanted a very cohesive decor with our outfits and it reflected just that. The Haldi decor was done by Arun and myself (yes, no other manual labor involved).
My mehendi had 2 customization - one of my pup and my husband’s best man - Jimmy (the dog) and then rings and shoes (because Arun proposed my the first time with the Manolo Blahnik - the same shoes Mr. Big proposed Carrie Bradshaw and then the second time with the ring)

Bridal Outfits
Wedding Lehenga: My bridal lehenga was from Jade's Ektaar collection, which is just ethereal!
Mehendi Lehenga: My mehendi party lehenga was from Rimple and Harpreet Narula. This lehenga was not even in their inventory.. we got it custom made with the perfect mango yellow to reflect the crisp fall weather coupled with velvet blue and lavender stripes.
Sangeet Lehenga: This is from FSP’s new collection - never worn by any bride before. We made 3 different customization to the blouse to make it a statement cut out full sleeved piece!
