Bridal Lehenga Shopping in Delhi: What Should Your Budget Be?
BY The WMG Bride | 31 Jan, 2014 | 40275 views | 3 min read
So you have decided to come down to Delhi and hopefully, hired my services for it :p . But what really should your budget for a bridal lehenga be?? How much does that gorgeous Tarun Tahiliani Anarkali you saw online cost? How much does a great, well made non designer lehenga cost? How cheap is dirt cheap for a bridal lehenga??? Here are a few answers that might make it a tad bit clearer.
-
The Big Name Designers
If you want a bridal outfit from the top notch designers of India, then be prepared. Bridal Couture from Designers is not cheap, and by not cheap I mean something like this:
The Exorbitant Designers: If you are looking at Tarun Tahiliani or Manish Malhotra or Rohit Bal, no heavy Bridal outfit will cost less than 4.5 Lakhs at current prices. Heavy outfits from A&A cost somewhere around 4 as well.
The Others: If you are looking at Sabyasachi, Pallavi Jaikishan etc then you can score some great bridal outfits for around the 2.2 Lakh+ mark

The Lesser known Designers
You may not read their name in the papers but Delhi hosts a range of lesser known but fabulous designers . Right from small boutiques inside a residential bungalow to sprawling shops in the fashion district of the city, these designers are not talked about but can be a fabulous option for customising and making your bridal lehenga. The range for a bridal outfit from these starts at about 80k and can go up to 2 Lakhs.

The Non Designer Shops
Gorgeous outfits don't have to carry a designer tag and you can get these at cheaper prices. But what really is cheap?? The range generally starts at 30,000 Rs and goes up to 3 Lakhs though from past experience i can tell you that you probably wont like anything that's under 40,000 Rs here. You can get a VERY good piece for about 60,000 to a Lakh and get some stunning Pieces for more than that as well. The Non Designer Boutiques in Delhi include big, multistorey shops carrying replicas, to narrow tiny shops in Old Delhi carrying stunning pieces and this is where the mass of Delhi really shops from!
A Few other points to note:
- Lehengas are always more expensive than bridal anarkali's so if you are looking for a bridal anarkali, you can probably go slightly cheaper
- Always stick to your budget, because the minute you even start to see the lehengas that cross your budget you re going to find it VERY hard to stay within range
- Be Patient. Shopping in Delhi is not the easiest thing, but you WILL find your dream lehenga/outfit and i guarantee you that !!!
