Blogger Anushka Moore's Guide To Honeymoon Essentials!

As everyone knows, besides her wedding day, the honeymoon is the most exciting, special time in a girl's life. My husband and I decided to go to the south of Italy on our honeymoon and covered Capri, Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, Naples and Pompeii over a span of two weeks, whilst keeping the gorgeous little town of Sorrento as our home base.
We planned it so that we would head out on an expedition to discover a new Italian town one day, and then spend the next day relaxing by the pool, beach or in restaurants and little shops on the next - so I had to have outfits that prepared me for virtually anything! Here are a few of the essentials I packed that really made our trip worthwhile. When it comes to what to pack - know your needs and pack like a ninja.
1. My DSLR
James and I are both photography and travel enthusiasts. He is the perfect companion to take pictures with around the world and we never, ever leave our cameras at home when we're on holiday. This time was no exception. My faithful DSLR freeze-framed everything!
2. A selfie stick
I've always thought selfie sticks looked silly when used in public, but I wanted for us to have some pictures together on our honeymoon without having to give our phones / cameras to random strangers. The selfie stick was the best decision we made - I highly recommend it to other couples on your honeymoon (despite how silly your husband thinks they are! because once you are back, you'll feel terrible you didn't take the right pictures)
3. Sun protection
And by this I mean SPF 50 sunblock, a hat and sunglasses! It happened to be a scorching 40 degrees when we were on our honeymoon and I didn't want to risk burning / freckles.
4. A swimsuit cover up that doubled as a cape
I bought this amazing palm print swimsuit cover up at H&M before my honeymoon to wear over my swimsuit by the beach or pool. However, it looked really cute with jeans and dresses, that I ended up wearing it around town, too! When it comes to packing for the honeymoon, double-duty ideas are best. Make everything work in different ways and carry less.
5. A book
Since I had never been on holiday with James before, I didn't know how much he loved reading in moments when we were relaxing by the pool or taking a breather between sightseeing at the hotel. However, I soon discovered his Kindle was loaded with bestsellers while I hadn't brought along any material to keep me occupied! Luckily, I bought some chick lit at a bookstore in the main market of Sorrento to keep me going during our quiet moments. A good book by the pool, however cliched it might sound kept me sane and I loved catching up on reading.
6. Comfortable footwear
I'm usually a girly girl who loves dainty sandals with pretty dresses, but on days when we went hiking in Capri and walking all over Capri, I was so relieved to have a comfortable pair of trainers or my poor feet would have been in agony! Always carry trainers as a backup plan in case your sandals give you a twisted ankle or blisters! Infact, opt for trainers first because honeymoon after hectic wedding with heels will really help. Plus, they are great if you wanna get back to your fitness routine on holiday. Just go for a run!
7. Dresses, dresses and more dresses
Like I said, this girly girl loves her dresses. I scooped up pretty numbers in every shape, form, print, colour and silhouette I could find. And I'm so glad I did! With the weather being the hottest I had ever experienced, those little dresses were total lifesavers as you couldn't really wear much else!
8. Pretty lingerie
For obvious reasons! *wink wink* I think girls should stick to pieces that make them feel comfortable and sexy at the same time, but then have a couple of 'wow' pieces for special nights. I am personally a huge fan of lace playsuits and nighties on days after you've eaten too much pasta and gelato!
9. A signature scent
On super special occasions, my honeymoon being one of them, I treat myself to a new fragrance. Something completely different from the ones I wear on a daily basis. I do this because I believe that fragrance is so strong, it almost has the ability to be a time machine. So months or years later, when I smell the same fragrance again, it brings back sweet memories of the most special trip of our lives in beautiful, sunny Italy!
10. Eyebrow pencil and a bright lipstick
It was so hot in Italy, that I couldn't be bothered putting on foundation, concealer, primer or blusher. Even my mascara and eyeliner would melt off, leaving me with raccoon eyes. So I just decided to keep my beauty look simple - sunblock, groomed brows and a bright lipstick and I could conquer the world!
WedMeGood additions:
- A Travel Charger: One with multiple sockets which can work all over.
- Medicine Stash: You might come down with something during your trip and no, chemists abroad don't dole out medicines over the counter.
- Camera charging cord: Often forgotten and VERY necessary
- Sling bag/ backpack: Have an easy to carry bag that you can sling diagonally across your body. If you are going to places like Barcelona known for petty thefts you need a bag like this on you.
- Extra luggage bag: You might shop on your honeymoon, carrying a light duffel that can be folded inside your suitcase might be great.
