While all the talk about NRI and ABCD weddings is on these days, here is a couple who did things in the most unexpected way. While it's very common for NRIs to come down to India for their 'big fat' wedding, it's extremely rare for them to actually go to their ancestral rural village to say their 'I Do's'. But here is a couple who did that, and beautifully so! US-based Sabby and Gurkanwal had their fairytale wedding at her grandfather's village in Punjab, and it was a beautiful Anand Karaj ceremony.
P.S. We absolutely loved her regal, beautifully embroidered outfit by Plumtin , which had a whole baraat procession embroidered on it! The photography by Safarsaga Films was fresh and fabulous too.
Meet Sabby and Gurkanwal
Me and my husband, We met in Canada through a mutual friend in a social gathering and hit it off just with a smile, Later it turned out that we were family friends. After going out for a while with Gurkanwal I had to move back to States (New Jersey) which made the two of us 'Soulmates' crave for each other like nothing at all mattered to us anymore. And that's when our odyssey to the Love land actually started.
Anand Karaj
From The Bride:
Our wedding was a typical "Big Fat Indian Wedding " That took place in an extremely rural part of Punjab known as 'Jhabewal', Bholapur. My wedding was a quintessential royal affair which was made possible only because of my grandfather's desire to see me get married in his village and the fact that he being the head of the family never forgot his roots and always associated himself with pride to his motherland gave me the hopes and efforts to travel all the way from USA to India in these times of Pandemic. I am certainly glad that all of it was made viable with the support and blessings of all my family members.
