If there are two things this pretty Mumbai wedding had in abundance - it's swash-buckling style and inherent elegance. Two stylish people, Garima and Akshay hit the high note with the The Taj Mahal Palace as an iconic backdrop with regal feels to create the wedding of their dreams. The colourful outfits and the quiet candour made the wedding a must-see on our list while the venue balanced the royal with the laid-back beach vibe beautifully. Photography by Jodi Clickers made every moment count!
Meet Garima & Akshay
"Akshay and I met via a few common friends at a bar in Mumbai during the summer of 2014. We didn't meet as a set up but just happened to be at the same place at the same time which, well, worked for us. Akshay is the co-founder of the digital marketing agency, Togglehead and being in the field of communication & marketing myself, we started conversing on this common subject. A few drinks later we bid goodbye (for the night) after which one thing led to another and we started going out on dates. He lives on Nepean Sea Road and I, Bandra so most of the time we teased each other about the travel but still never missed a date! A few weeks into casual dating we gradually took it forward and got into a serious relationship which went on for about 3 years. In November 2016, Akshay finally proposed!" says Garima.
The Sangeet
The Wedding
From The Bride:
I have always wanted a Palace wedding and my husband waned a beach one. We explored all options across the country to find the perfect venue but realised that we were always drawn back to this city, our city. Our love for Mumbai never let us leave and we decided to get married at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, one of the most prestigious ones in the city. The history and structure of the hotel indulged me because it's a palace of sorts while the location fulfilled my husband's need to get married by the sea. As we were getting married in the end of November 2017, an outdoor location is what we wanted and so we decided to have our mandap at the Chamber's Lawn at the Taj which overlooks the Gateway Of India and the Arabian Sea. It was a sunset wedding, literally out of my dreams! After an intimate affair of 200 people, we then proceeded to the Crystal Room for the Wedding Reception that had over 500 invitees.
Mallika Bhat, my makeup artist is a very honest person and knows her strengths well. Not only that, she understands your personality type and doesn't let the makeup take away from the person. My wedding makeup was flawless! Trident Hotel, that we chose for my Sangeet venue was amazing. It was a great experience working with them. As for my outfits, at Sabyasachi where I went for my bridal wear, words don't suffice to describe the overall experience! I felt more like a princess than a bride from their customer service at the store. Jodi Clickers, my Photographers were an extremely fun and creative team to work with! DJ Amman Nagpal was a fountain of unstoppable energy - he knows how to get a party started and going until the wee hours of the morning.
