Look closely and you will spot a million cute details in this wedding. Right from the customised hangers for the bride, mommy and sister to her wedding date engraved at the back of the jutti and the most beautiful memory table for the family members who couldn't join them. The icing on the cake though- the adorable pre wedding shoot with bridesmaids as fugitives. Photography by Morvi Images Photography is scintillating and captured all the details perfectly!
Meet Aakriti & Rishabh
"Rishabh and I matched on Tinder. We connected instantly, from the back and forth banter to the sarcastic and sardonic retorts. Mid way through our first conversation he mentioned he was flying the next morning back to Melbourne, Australia as he only came for a week to visit his parents. Being the younger child who always got what I wanted, I could not let this man slip away! I had to know if I was being trolled or if he was real. I decided to jump in my car the next morning and drove to the airport without telling my parents (I was not allowed to drive alone at that point in time as I was still getting familiar with Delhi traffic). We met outside the international terminal in the searing Delhi heat that. We shared a Gatorade and bid adieu. I drove home with a heavy heart not knowing when we would see each other again," says Aakriti.
"That one meeting changed us forever as we soon became intertwined in each others lives via texts, emails and FaceTime. As luck would have it he had to return to India the next month and that’s when we had our first official date at the Trident, Gurgaon. We travelled back and forth between Delhi and Melbourne over the next year until he proposed on May Day (1st May) via FaceTime asking me to save his soul and I said yes! We decided on the 21st of November for our wedding and it was only appropriate that we did it at the Trident," explains Aakriti.

The Wedding
From The Bride:
"My mother and I completely took charge with me being a bit of a bridezilla/control freak. I insisted on having a theme for each event to ensure there was harmony between the decorations, the mood and our outfits. Starry night was the theme for the cocktail. It was mystical, magical and dreamy filled with flowers, crystals and hues of blue and silver. The mehendi on the other hand had to be colourful and fun! From the rickshaw and bangle cart in my driveway, a Rajathani puppet wall and fusion cocktails and food by XO catering, the obvious choice was a Rajasthani theme. The wedding theme was an easy one. All my life I wanted to feel like a princess without my father calling me one. A Mughal themed wedding was the perfect way to tie the knot with my prince charming. We even got a silver mandap and a swing to add to the feeling of royalty and panache," explains Aakriti.
"With most of my cousins and a few friends living around the US and some in India, I had no proper way of making all my bridesmaids and bridesmen meet and know about each other. I decided to make it a little cheeky and fun by creating mug shots for everyone. They all got a board that stated their crime from “AakRish Police Department” and with the help of Morvi, took all their mug shots. It was a fun ice-breaker that helped relieve a lot of stress and made it more jovial," adds Aakriti. "As for my outfits, my mother and I went all over Delhi to find the perfect outfit that spoke to me. From Vogue wedding week to Shahpur Jat to Emporio. You name it, we saw it. Nothing stood out. We decided to head to Jaipur and there we found my Cocktail outfit that came from Ranas in Jaipur. Since the theme was starry night with midnight blue and silver as the colour scheme, I opted for a rose pink and gold outfit to avoid blending with the décor. The Mehndi theme was Rajasthani, so I insisted on wearing something with mirror work. We worked closely with the designer at Janak Nandini (Jaipur) who created a beautiful lehenga, which turned out to be the heaviest outfit in the end! My wedding outfit was from Vasansi (Jaipur) and my mother took over my wedding outfit! By the end of it all, I was burned out, frustrated and in tears as I could not figure out my wedding outfit. All I wanted was a double veil. They created a beautiful lehenga that went with the Mughal theme. The material of the lehenga was interwoven with two colours –orange and shocking pink, giving it an orange hue in certain lights while being a deep pink colour. I paired my lehenga with juttis from Needledust. They were kind enough to engrave my wedding date on all the juttis I bought from them. Most of my outfits came unstitched as requested as I was not sure if my weight would go up or down! Amita Ghai Dev, a designer in Delhi was very accomodating to put all my pieces together and altered them to our needs," adds Aakriti.
"My advice to brides: Everything goes by super fast and before you know it, you are married. Take a breather! Don’t bother if things don’t go your way or if you missed a few details. It will happen but go with the flow and enjoy the moment because it never comes back. Give someone your phone so they can take photos of you enjoying your day! That way you don’t have to wait for your photographs to be ready. Right after you get married, spend some time with your husband and let your photographer capture those emotional moments. Its hard to get away from the madness but once it all sinks in, it is worth capturing. Lastly, gift your parents something. They have worked really hard for you to have such a special day. Give them something small they can cherish once you leave," adds Aakriti.
